Pillowcases and Batman Fabric?

A friend of mine commissioned batman pillow cases from me and I just need to know how many pillow cases I can get out of a yard. I was figuring two, but I'm not entirely sure. Also, where can I get Batman fabric for inexpensive?

For a 20" x 30" (finished) pillowcase, you'll only be able to get one case, from a yard of 45" fabric.

google pillow case patterns I just did one for my daughter using the roll up method it was very easy. Sorry to say good luck finding cheap batman fabric.....it's hot right now and it's at top dollar. I would try to get free shipping if your ordering online but check Joanns if your close one (don't see your location).

I am close to one. It's a matter of having a friend that decided that she wants to approve the fabric and doesn't want to pay me very much... I just want enough to afford the fabric, especially since finances right now are going towards study abroad. As of right now, she's looking for two pillow cases.

My pillow case pattern calls for 27" of the main print and 12" for the cuff. You can also add a coordinating 2 1/2" trim. This is for the rolled pillowcase. They are sooo easy. My 3 yo grandson shows his Avengers pillowcase to everyone who enters the house, even if they have seen it many times before.lol

Check with your friend what size pillows she wants these cases for, too.

If your friend is 'cheap' - have her buy the fabric -

If you choose to make 'plain' pillowcases - for a standard pillow (20 x 26) - with a four inch hem

You would need a width of 41-42 inches - depending on how loose you like the pillow case and/or how wide you make your seams - and a length of at least 34 inches.

The standard queen size pillow is 20 x 30 - and that would take a length of at least 38 inches.

You can skimp and make narrower hems and that would take less fabric.

You could make only one side of the pillowcase with the batman fabric - but that would mean a seam on each side, instead of a seam just on one side.

Why not pick a solid color from the Batman Fabric and then do a border in Batman. Would save lots of money especially if she wants 2!!

I just made my grandson Batman pillow cases. I used 29" for the main body and &" left over for the top of the other one. So his are batman and red top and red pillowcase and batman fabric for the other top. looks cute. So you could get away with one yard.

That's a great idea! You could do the Batman fabric as the cuff (is that what it's called?). Here are some sources of Batman fabric --->
