I want to thank everybody for the compliments and comments on my pincushions. If you have any questions please feel free to send me a PM. I haven't had a chance to ask PatricJ about doing a tut yet. I've been very busy trying to get ready for the Tymeless Hearts carnival on the 25th. I will post here when I have a chance to talk to Patric.

They are adorable. Good job

Ramona Byrd 06-20-2011 10:03 AM

I have been looking while out shopping here but I have not been able to find the jars yet. Are they easy to make?[/quote]
---------------------------
Look in the canning areas of grocery stores. These are the 4 ounce ones for tiny amounts of jam or jelly, though I can't imagine making amounts that small. I suspect these will be used more for crafts than canning. Good for keeping cat treats separate, buttons, etc. Pills maybe?

pmintpat 06-20-2011 12:38 PM

are those canning jars?

cjomomma 06-20-2011 12:51 PM

Yes they are. These are the Mason Ball jars, I think the half pint size.

I love making these. I could make them all the time they are so much fun.

Thank you looking! :-D

These are adorable. I like the jar idea...you can store extra pins.
Where did you ever find these little jars?

Would you consider doing a tutorial???

See following link for tutorial http://www.favecrafts.com/Sewing-Tip...ar-Pin-Cushion

Thank you.

Dee 06-20-2011 08:15 PM

They are so cute. Love the purple one-my favorite color.

pab58 06-20-2011 08:31 PM

Well, missy!!!! I think it's time for a tute!!!!!  :-D :-D Those are just the cutest!!!!!

BTW, where did you get those cute little jars? I've never seen jelly jars like that -- or are they jelly jars? :?

leiladylei54 06-20-2011 11:14 PM

Oh they are too cute!!! I would love to learn how to make them for gifts. I'm always in the market for easy but practical gifts.

After the 25th I will see about doing a tut.
Right now I have company in town and a carnival that I'm getting ready for.
Thank you! I love these. My DH told me to put a shelf in my sewing area to display them instead of selling them. Sometimes I love that man. LOL!

leiladylei54 06-21-2011 08:05 AM

Oh yes, putting them on display would be so fun!!! Love that idea, too.

migrubbs 06-23-2011 11:41 AM

I would like to buy one

They are $5.00 each. The problem is it costs between $5.00 and $6.00 to ship. The shipping cost is the reason I didn't offer these on the board.

nhnative 06-23-2011 12:22 PM

You could always just mail the top. They fit all canning jars.

Now there's an idea!

Granny Charley 06-23-2011 05:00 PM

I make one like this but use a wide mouth pint jar and it is a full sewing kit.

nhnative 06-26-2011 09:48 AM

Your rooster pin cushion is cute too. My friend had made me one.

nwm50 06-27-2011 10:06 AM

CUTE !!

cjomomma 06-27-2011 12:06 PM

PLEASE READ!!!!

Because there is already a tutorial online for these pincushions or similar ones I can not make to a tut on the board.
If you try to make one and have questions then I will be happy to try and help you out. Just send me a PM.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments and interest in these.
BIG HUGS,
Carrie

migrubbs 06-28-2011 07:38 AM

Thanks for the tutorial site.

Robinlee 06-28-2011 08:50 AM

I bought these same jars to make something similar about 6 months or so ago. Now to go find them.

These are cute.

Naturalmama 06-28-2011 09:23 AM

Carrie I LOVE those!!! Great job - they look adorable!!! I love those low jars too - will be stable when you're reaching behind the machine to put a pin in it. And thanks for posting the link to the tute - I don't have time even to sew lately, but I will bookmark it for a "someday" project!
:D

Marvel 06-30-2011 04:29 PM

Girl you rock. These are so pretty. I hope they sell well. They would be nice just to have and not use. You are a very talented lady.Helen

cjomomma 06-30-2011 07:01 PM

Thank you, thank you very much. :-).
I found that on another forum they were talking about my jars. How cool is that?

sewnsewer2 06-30-2011 07:21 PM

Those are so cute!

OraLee 08-27-2011 04:15 PM

What a cool idea. Could you at least tell us what you stuff them with? I love them. How much do you sell them for?

cjomomma 08-27-2011 04:32 PM

They are stuffed with left over batting and I sell them for $5.00 each. :-)

Edited to say: use a poly/cotton batting to stuff these. 100%cotton batting is hard to stick the pins in when rolled up in a ball.

Connie in CO 08-28-2011 06:42 AM

I was thinking, find a small jar that you have around the house that you can use with those kind of twist on lids and rings.I don't know how small they make those lids.Connie in CO
