If you have not gotten one yet, get one. My husband and I and I have had this "crud" for the last week. It has not been fun. When I was teaching I would get a flu shot each year. Since retiring, I have not been as diligent. I think we are finally over the worst part, but still tired feeling, headachey and nasty cough. At least I can walk through my house without getting tired. The worst part of this crud was that I could not read. I just could not focus. So please, get your flu shot.

lisainmo 12-02-2010 11:55 AM

Oh I never get a flu shot!! those make me deathly sick!

amma 12-02-2010 11:59 AM

Already got mine :D:D:D

amandasgramma 12-02-2010 12:00 PM

I can't take them either -- just found out last year that they have MSG in them (preservative) -- I can't tolerate MSG. So sorry you've been so sick! It's NOT fun! Especially when you're retired.....no compensation like being able to take a day off!!!!

mochasue 12-02-2010 12:00 PM

I never get a flu shot either. My dad gets one and always gets the flu right after.

cjomomma 12-02-2010 12:03 PM

I can't get 1 because I have an allergy to eggs but I make sure the rest of my family gets them.

DawnMarie 12-02-2010 12:12 PM

I get mine every year. One of my kids has an egg allergy, and the other is irritated by eggs, but the doc says he doesn't have the allergy. So, both of them aren't supposed to get it. Lord, if they do, I sure don't want it. I need to be able to take care of them.
I hope you start feeling better!

ljsunflower 12-02-2010 12:12 PM

There's all kinds of goodies in those flu shots! I don't ever get one either.

brushandthimble 12-02-2010 12:16 PM

got mine already, thank you!

cbridges22 12-02-2010 12:19 PM

I am a RN and got mine this year.I ended up in ER 3 time and 2 hospital admissions within a week of getting it.This is a 3 for one combo that has never been tried before and it about killed me so I will not be getting any vaccinations of any kind ever again per Dr. orders

TN Donna 12-02-2010 12:22 PM

I can't take the flu shots. I did one time and it almost killed me. Can not do it due to doc's orders.

DebraK 12-02-2010 12:22 PM

No, thank you. Hope you feel better soon.

Candace 12-02-2010 01:02 PM

NO. I don't believe in flu shots!

CarrieAnne 12-02-2010 01:07 PM

Get well soon! Got mine!

pester 12-02-2010 01:13 PM

Nope not doing it. Germs don't make you sick. A depressed immune system that can't fight allows you to get sick. I'd rather strengthen my immune system then get a crap shoot vaccine.

julia58 12-02-2010 01:30 PM

No way, I just about died the only time I got one, sounds like they affect alot of folks the same way.

morelcabin 12-02-2010 02:11 PM

I am just getting over the flu as well...but I would much rather have the flu than poison myself with flu shots. Biggest sham ever invented.

leaha 12-02-2010 02:17 PM

got mine, both DH & I get them, have for past 4 years and have not even gotten a sniffle in that time, works for us.

maryb119 12-02-2010 02:28 PM

I got mine already this year. I didn't get it last year and ended up in bed for a week with H1N1. That is a nasty virus! I learned my lesson.

azdesertrat 12-02-2010 02:33 PM

Never had one never will, and ive never had the flu either.I, allergice to raw eggs

maryel 12-02-2010 03:07 PM

I never got one but hope you feel better real soon.

ptquilts 12-02-2010 03:22 PM

had the flu twice, never want to go through that again. Laid up for 3 weeks. Now I always get the shot. Haven't been sick since.

kathyd 12-02-2010 04:07 PM

I got mine yesterday. I work in the school cafeteria and it is the wise thing for me to do.

patchsamkim 12-02-2010 04:10 PM

I work in health care so I do get one each year...there sure have been a lot of people coming in sick with flu like symptoms....I too recommend the flu shot and wash, wash, wash your hands!

Jabear617 12-02-2010 05:10 PM

I got mine :)

Ramona Byrd 12-02-2010 05:38 PM

Not me, never again. In 1999 I that blasted flu shot, and lost darn near the whole month of February. Spent it in bed, coughing and shivering and gasping for breath.

And in Bakersfield my sister got one at a small drug store, next day her arm was badly swollen and her doctor said the drug store must have used a dirty needle!!! They either did not get the same amount of needles and meds and so might have stuck them in alcohol and declared them sterile, or...
Anyway, sister now should take blood tests for a long time, just in case. Don't know what the health department did about it, I'll have to ask.

KarenSimon 12-02-2010 06:14 PM

DH and I are almost religious about our flu shot every year. Since 1987 for me. He was sick the next year with the flu and missed four weeks of work. He gets a shot every year now. We've escaped so much misery.

I think it very rude for people to go out in public when they have the bug. STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK!

nana katie 12-02-2010 07:37 PM

I hope you and dear hubby get to feeling better soon.

Deb watkins 12-02-2010 08:24 PM

I haven't had a flu shot in 27 years. Every year before that I had one, yep, I was sick for minimun of two weeks. I work in a school, and am exposed to all kinds of germs daily. Must have a pretty good immune system!

Boscobd 12-02-2010 08:37 PM

I'll never get a flu shot. A fellow I worked with got one in October 2009. He ended up with Guillain-Barre Syndrome and has just within the last month been able to begin to walk again, more than a year later. Although Guillain-Barre is a rare side effect from the flu vaccine (rate of 1 per million), I will not take that risk. Check out Guillain-Bare on Wikipedia if curious.

Ileen 12-02-2010 08:38 PM

I get one every year.

SherriB 12-02-2010 08:42 PM

I work in a hospital and I am constantly exposed to various germ and infections. I also have asthma and diabetes. I get my flu shot for these reasons and also to hopefully protect my grandbabies, DD's and DH. The hospital I work for STRONGLY encourages the flu shot. If we don't take it, or privide proof from a Dr., we will get a write up if we get sick from the flu and miss work. The other hospital in our city REQUIRES every employee to get a flu shot. If they refuse for reasons other than Dr. certified allergy, etc., they will be terminated.

pookie ookie 12-02-2010 08:43 PM

What I need is a tetanus shot. Thanks for the reminder!

Are people getting pneumonia shots?

Edie 12-03-2010 03:25 AM

My husband gets his every year, because he has a compromised immune system. My mother, 94, has a miserable cold/flu and had the shot. My sister had to go to the doctor for the second time and got antibiotics with three refills and she had the flu shot.

I am not going to get the flu shot. Edie

watterstide 12-03-2010 03:28 AM

i got mine in novemebr..i never got them, until i started babysitting the grandkids..they are in day care 3 days, and 2 days with me..
the little petri dishes bring home all sorts of colds/flu!

Mary O 12-03-2010 03:38 AM

No flu shot here either......Don't trust anything going into my body made by the drug co........

Elfi2 12-03-2010 05:02 AM

I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT REALLY MOST PEOPLE VOTE AGAINST A FLU SHOT. I'M NOT FOR IT EITHER, I DO GET THE FLU OCCASIONALLY BUT I THINK MY BODY IS USED TO FIGHTING IT OFF HIMSELF SO I DON'T SEEM TO BE SICK AS BADLY AS SOME DESCRIBE. MY GRAND-CHILDREN COME AND STAY WITH ME TOO AND HAVE BEEN SICK AND IT DOESN'T SEEM TO AFFECT ME BADLY EITHER. I REALLY THINK ONE OF THE MAIN THING IS TO LAY DOWN AND REST PLENTY WHILE ILL AND FEED ON VITAMIN C STUFF, LIKE CITRUS FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.

Aurora 12-03-2010 05:34 AM

I also never get flu shots and never get the flu. I don't want to reduce my natural resistance.

Dodie 12-03-2010 05:40 AM

can't take them either Dr.'s orders by what is in them and my allergy's

Pzazz 12-03-2010 05:43 AM

Both my DH and I get one every year. Last year we were late getting them, and we both came down with H1N1. Not fun!!!!! He works at a university, and I work in a credit union, so we are both subjected to lots of bugs every day. As long as we get our shots, we seem to make it thru' the winter without picking up every bug that come by.

I hope everyone has a healthy winter.

Patti
