*sigh*

ckcowl 03-03-2019 01:32 PM

Awww. Yes, I have made that mistake before too.

Chasing Hawk 03-03-2019 01:40 PM

Yes, it has. That is when Jack the ripper comes to visit.

madamekelly 03-03-2019 01:43 PM

At that point, I usually get out the graph paper and colored pencils to see if I “invented” a new design by accident, if not, “frog sewing” party for me. Rippit rippit. Lol.

oksewglad 03-03-2019 01:52 PM

If this is for your 6" block project, I say leave it and you've created a new block design! Such pretty fabrics and it still makes a pretty block!

zozee 03-03-2019 02:38 PM

Too many times. Absolutely.

maryb119 03-03-2019 02:55 PM

Oh yes or I have sewn a block backwards. Just take it apart and do it again.

Rhonda K 03-03-2019 03:27 PM

Ahem! I have a frog in my throat...

It does happen so no worries. You can fix it!

osewme 03-03-2019 03:30 PM

Yep! I've even sewn the wrong side to the right side before. I've especially done crazy things like that when I am tired & should have stopped sewing hours before the mishap. I tell people I can rip out faster than I can sew because I'm such an expert when it comes to ripping. :D

GMTA!!!!
exactly what I was thinking.

cjsews 03-03-2019 05:10 PM

Ummm. More times than I want to admit

audsgirl 03-03-2019 05:16 PM

I have done similar things. At least it was a simple fix and you didn't find it after it was sewn into a quilt!

Leslie

jmoore 03-03-2019 05:52 PM

I thought it was a new block design... (wink)

Tartan 03-03-2019 06:11 PM

No, of course not....just kidding!

quiltingshorttimer 03-03-2019 06:45 PM

I kind of like it!

PamelaOry 03-03-2019 06:48 PM

Not yet but give me a minute...

helou 03-04-2019 03:58 AM

I was looking for "the" mistake as I thought this was a new design.... I like it this way....!!! why not!

SusieQOH 03-04-2019 04:08 AM

Oh yes! I keep thinking I'm "way too experienced" for this. Wrong!! :D

sandy l 03-04-2019 04:23 AM

Lost count of the "been there, done that" Oops.:)

sewbizgirl 03-04-2019 04:52 AM

I’m pretty sure we have all done it, and will continue to do it when we are not paying attention.

quilterpurpledog 03-04-2019 05:34 AM

Yes, of course! But, it so nice to catch it at this stage and not much later when it is hard to fix. To be honest, there is a table runner in my closet that has one section in a bargello sequence backwards-and- it is still there. So, fix it and move forward. I should take my own advice!

Stitchnripper 03-04-2019 05:39 AM

And don't do what I have done - take it out and redo it the same wrong way!

luvstoquilt 03-04-2019 05:40 AM

Yesterday as a matter of fact. My seam ripper is a dear friend!

toverly 03-04-2019 06:09 AM

Heavens yes. Nothing like a great seam ripper to correct those problems.

Snooze2978 03-04-2019 07:21 AM

No I didn't quilt make that mistake but made a whopper of one and didn't catch it till I had it on the frame, had quilted all around the block excluding the block in error. Had to frog all around the block, turn it correctly and then hand stitch it back to the quilt. It was not easy and I'm sure I swore under my breath about how stupid of a mistake that was. Like how didn't I see that before it was put on the frame??????? Oh well, its fixed and I now find if I take a photo of the quilt and view it on the PC screen I can see the mistakes easier than just looking at it on the design wall. Don't know why but it just works better for me that way. Surely don't want to go thru that again.

maviskw 03-04-2019 07:27 AM

Of course I've done things like that. That's why I always tell people to step back and admire your work every once in a while.

It's also a good idea to hang an almost finished quilt on a design board somewhere where you can look at it often, at a distance. Leave it there for a few days. If nothing pops out at you and you really like the way it is done, then you can move on to finishing.

Boston1954 03-04-2019 07:42 AM

I have done that, ripped it out and done it again............on the same block. Yikes!

Doggramma 03-04-2019 07:52 AM

Unfortunately...yes it has! And like someone else said, I frantically try to figure out if I can make it work without having to rip it apart.

ScubaK 03-04-2019 08:54 AM

Wow!!!
Yes! I have made that type of mistake and even some others...
Usually when I think I have everything laid out correctly and can just sew the pieces together....
Kirsten

ekuw 03-04-2019 12:21 PM

Yes! I used to encounter it a lot when I first started quilting. Now I try when possible to make my cuts slightly bigger than required and trim down if possible to prevent this from happening.

Iceblossom 03-04-2019 12:31 PM

What's worse is when you make a mistake, take it apart, and put it together again in the exact same mistaken way!

LoriEl 03-04-2019 02:13 PM

You're points are perfect! (Of course I have!)

Mama H 03-05-2019 04:16 AM

Been there, done it.

carolynjo 03-05-2019 06:53 AM

I don't think there is a mistake I haven't made in my years of quilting! I just undo it and keep on going.

Bobbielinks 03-05-2019 07:10 AM

Yep, sorry to say I have done that more times than I want to admit. Have also ripped it out and resewed to back the same wrong way. That's when it is time to rest a bit.

Rose_P 03-05-2019 10:18 AM

At least once in every quilt.

Annaquilts 03-05-2019 10:52 AM

All the time!

Jingle 03-05-2019 01:43 PM

After each mistake I think I have made them all. No, I always find a new one.

Cactus Stitchin 03-05-2019 06:47 PM

Heavens no - my mistakes are much worse and much harder to repair than that!! :D:D Glad you caught it now so it’s easier to repair!

Jordan 03-06-2019 05:06 PM

Many, many times. You definitely are not alone. Nice design tho'
