my cats bowl about every ot,her day. sometimes you have to hunt for it, since she covers it and hides it after eating. sometimes under the cabinet, sometimes under a pile of fabric she hunts down fromother rooms. she also has 2 water fountains running all day and night and two glasses of water, one in the bedroom with the water fountain and one as you walk in the door a water fountain and one glass on the sink. she likes running water. sometimes she eats off a napkin coz she get overzealous covering her bowls and throws them and they break or chip. she gets a new bowl for food about ever 3-4 months, due to breakage, and her treats are on a silver platter

I rinse mine out every time I fill the drinking water. Food dishes every so often, my cats and dogs only eat dry food.

I have 5 dogs and 4 cats and wash their food bowls after each meal. I have 2 water bowls for everyone in the laundry room and wash those every couple of days, although I rinse them out and refill them countless times daily! In the summer I have a hard time keeping up with the water bowls even thought the dogs are always drinking out of the pond as well, which is fun to watch, they will wade in the water and lap as they go! Thinking about that makes me even more tired of all this cold, snow and ice!

I throw them in the dishwasher after every meal

I have bowls with either water and/or dry food in them on all 3 floors. Their canned food saucers get washed after every use. Their water bowls usually get washed at least once a week or when they start looking like something I wouldn't use myself. Got to treat our pets the same as ourselves, right????

I clean my little girls bowls with hot soapy water right after she's done eating. I figure I wouldn't want to eat or drink out of a dirty dish or glass so why should she. Also I use to have the stainless bowls but even after cleaning them they would leave a nasty smell also they would get icky real quick. She also gets fresh water different times of the day.

All this talk of making work for ourselves washing bowls. Disposables are the way to go.
