I just ordered this pressure cooker, and then afterward thought WHY? I've never had a pressure cooker and a little leary of using one. what recipes do you like in yours? I'm so new to this kind of cooking any advice would be helpful. The thought was fast cooking on those hectic days, so I could spend more time in the craft room----I hope. I do have a crock pot and use that often, but thought this would be useful. GIve me your thoughts.

I have down pot roasts, stews, salsbury steak, round steak all kinds of beef in mine and it works great and fast  You just have to figure out how to use it and timing and you will love it

My Mom use to make beef stew with veggies in hers...took about 15-20 minutes.

Mine is very old & has not been used for awhile, but it came with a recipe book. Beef stew was one of my favorites when I used to eat more meat.

I've had one for years. It's great for pot roast, chili, lots of things. I have found that it cooks veggies too fast, so don't put the veggies in when I do meat, but it's great for meat - very tender, lots of juices. If you got recipes with it, you can build on them.

I used to be afraid of them too - but they are not hard to use - they cook things very quickly. You just load it up and the most important thing is to put the top on correctly - that seals it - then listen to the sound of the cooker - once its done - you can let it cool by itself (may take hours) or you can dunk the cooker in cool water - I would turn on the cold water in sink and just run it over the top of the cooker - once the pressure drops - you can take the little pressure doo hickey thing off the top and open it up. They are really safe now - you will love it.

We've had a pressure cooker for almost 6 months and love it! We cook whole chickens in about 30-45 minutes. I've cooked beef roasts, pork loins, beef stew, vegetables, macaroni and cheese... we use our pressure cooker even more than our crock pot these days! You will not be sorry. Does yours come with a cookbook? If not, there are some out there and they are very helpful for ideas. Which one did you order?

Beef stew and pot roast. Sure cuts down on the time and the results are yummy. Don't be afraid of it. Just follow the instructions.

I think the new pressure cookers are quite safe. I remembering growing up my mom telling me to stay out of the kitchen if she had the pressure cooker going. I was terrified of that thing! LOL!
