Today, my brother in law was honored in Johnson City, New York, for his service in WWII and the Korean war. He was a POW for 33 months in Korea, and afterward continued to work in the Army as a recruiter. he is 88 years old, now, still active in his community, and from the photos i've seen is delighted with this honor! He was nominated by his son, Marty, who was present for the award. My thanks to those who are actively involved in making and presenting theses quilts to those who gave so much, and asked so little. I'm honored to even be thought of as a quilter in the presence of people like this!
My group is in Gwinnett County in the Atlanta area. We are quilting to Comfort & Honor our Wounded. We recently presented over 70 quilts to WWII & Vietnam Veterans at the Traveling Vietnam Wall in Adell, Ga. We are running out of time for our older Hero's. Go to www.QOVF.org for information about a guild in your area. |
