While I am fairly new to this form of quilt chatting, I am slowly finding my way around the topics. And since this is a non-quilting talk section, I want to share my happiness of today's events. Following surgery in December, today was my last day of radiation treatments for breast cancer! I am so relieved it is finally over and pray that the five-year plan of medications will keep me cancer free so I can continue to quilt every day. My dh is even talking to our dog saying, Isn't this a good day, momma doesn't have to take any more treatments. And then he lets out a big sigh. lol So, my new chatting friends, thank you for letting me shout it from the roof tops............and may all those other women who have breast cancer keep a positive attitude and have the good fortune that I have had.

Wishing you good health for now and forever!

I am so pleased to hear that your treatments are over.
You have much to celebrate.

These kind of experiences make us appreciate and treasure each day we have. My old college roommate just successfully finished chemo treatments and I am delighted for her as well.

I wish you luck. Sometimes it seems like they are being extra cautious with women these days. Ultrasounds are nothing to go through, it will be very easy. Please let us know how you make out.

Me too.
My DH has prostrate cancer so we hold our breath every time he has a bone scan. That's where the cancer will go if it comes back.
I am so happy that you shared your good news with us. It's a major mile stone for you and your family.

mamaw 03-10-2010 08:55 AM

That is wonderful news that you should celebrate...Congratulations!!!

fabric-holic 03-10-2010 10:25 AM

I have had wonderful emails from lots of members here for myself and I want to let you know how much I appreciate them.
But, please, I didn't intend to divert the attention from the original poster about her great news!!!
Congratulations again!

Ducky 03-10-2010 10:34 AM

Congratulations to you on passing this milestone. You've been through a lot and you deserve to celebrate! Both my older and younger sisters both had breast cancer and all that it entails with surgery and treatments. That was 10 years ago and they are both still cancer-free. So, good does happen!

SUSAN 03-10-2010 10:59 AM

Oh I am so happy for you!!! What wonderful news!! Prayers are with you for a continued recovery!! God is good!!

thequilteddove 03-10-2010 11:13 AM

Woohoot! Congrats! Most definately a fantastic day

I'm in the same boat as you Quilter7x... Only they found 'something' in my right breast. The last mamo they have to compare the one I had two days ago was 8yrs old...

Friday I'll be going for another mamo & ultrasound. They're sending me to the breast cancer center to get the follow up instead of back to radiology (I wonder if this is the normal practice)... they said the appointment can take 2 hrs & that I'd get the results while I'm there (I wonder if this is normal practice too) *dEEp breath* I'm try'n not to allow myself to let my imagination run away w/me... what ever will be, will be. Plus I've heard from other women that it's not uncommon to have a follow up mamo especially when it's been a long time between them *Thinks to self - everything's gonna be just fine.*

A few thousands prayers from you all can't hurt! :-D Thanks

Oh my gosh----I never dreamed so many would respond and with so much encouragement. I am a total stranger to everyone and yet I found courage and confidence blooming out all over the place. Yes, spring is just around the corner. Forgive me if I type in capitals but THANK YOU EVERYONE! And to those others who have or may have breast cancer testing results, I will add your unseen face to my prayer list. After all, our Lord knows who you are and knows who needs help. Thank you again and happy stitches to all.

Hi--I think you meant me instead of Quilter7x? They are sending me to a breast cancer center too for my tests so maybe that's not as ominous as it sounds. They also told me I'd get my results while I'm there and to be sure to ask for the cd of the tests so I can take it to my other doctors if needed. Sounds as if we're being told the same info. That's reassuring a little.
I go on 3-11-10. I'll be keeping good thoughts for you on 3-12-10. Let me know how yours turns out, OK?

thequilteddove 03-10-2010 02:33 PM

Oopsy :) Yes, I meant you :)

It is reassuring to hear they told you the same thing. That means it's SOP. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
