Well we woke up some rain...great rain...BUT it also brought thunder/lightening/high winds..So now I have no power at home...I am sitting at walmart in McD's! Today was my day to can my peaches..sigh...and to SEW...my one day this week that I was free enough to do things at home...figures....

It stopped raining, but looks like more is coming...we sure do need it...of course it will still be over 100 every day for the next 15 days they say...what a rough summer....and no produce to show for all my hard work...so winter will be harsh and long as well!

Hope all my friends in TX, KS and OK are enjoying the cool weather and rain today!

blueangel 08-11-2011 07:00 AM

Yea we got a little rain also. It is nice to be able to open up the house. Hope it lasts.

We were just on the very edge of that storm you got. I sure could do with some more of the wet stuff. I LOVE it when it rains. =)

zipit 08-11-2011 09:03 AM

DH is happy in OKC with the rain and new found cool. I'm in the Dallas area and it's sunny and hot, hot, hot, again.

dreamboat 08-11-2011 09:52 AM

Pipe some of that rain and cool air down Dallas way. We are smoothering down here.

sguillot 08-11-2011 09:58 AM

No rain here in the Houston area for many days and none forcasted. We have had record temps and are on water restrictions. I have lived here all my life and never remembering it be this hot. We are all praying for rain.

joyce blint 08-11-2011 10:59 AM

My cousin lives just outside Corn, OK. Is that close to you? I sympathize w your weather and power outages. Seems she freq experiences power outages. I'd be so afraid of losing everything in the freezer. It must be rough on the wildlife , too.

zipit 08-11-2011 11:05 AM

DH just sent me a picture of the temp in OKC, it's a cool 72. It is getting very windy and dark here and the temp has probably dropped 15 degrees in the last 20 minutes or so.

lheartsl 08-11-2011 11:15 AM

glad you guys have gotten some rain..... I agree you could have done without the high winds, thunder,an no power...

jaciqltznok 08-11-2011 12:17 PM

Heard that Boyd, TX got some of the rain...how about the rest of you...

I got my peaches canned, and just in time...another storm is on its way...bring it...I went a head and prepped dinner to be done on the grill just in case..I am done for the day.!

hensandhollyhocks 08-11-2011 01:18 PM

I also live in OK and was more than excited about the rain and the first day of school for my 9th grade daughter (woo, hoo)! We are rural and have had power off/on for the last 3 days, but I will gladly take it with a little rain. Still praying for those of you not getting any rain.

lyndad 08-11-2011 01:34 PM

I live in the Texas panhandle and we got rain Tuesday and thursday morning, I sure have enjoyed the cooler weather.

tutt 08-11-2011 02:11 PM

We didn't break 80 today in LR and have been getting rain for the last couple of days! It's WONDERFUL!!!! There is the promise of fall in the air! Praying though that the rain heads to OK and TX!!!

loves_2_quilt 08-11-2011 03:24 PM

We got some good rain in the Texas Panhandle too!

Phannie1 08-11-2011 03:27 PM

My sister said they got 3.5 inches in Tulsa. I know she needed it. Hope the heat break for a little while. I am praying for you all in OK.

alikat110 08-11-2011 03:30 PM

Nope! No rain here!

tinkkerfairydust 08-11-2011 03:32 PM

I have really enjoyed the rain, we have had rain the past few nights actually has some hail last night. It woke us up. My hubby will have to mow our "grass" now. It will be his third time to mow this spring/summer. Im sure he has enjoyed not having to mow out in the heat.

The cool temp today has been wonderful. I live in SE OKC/Moore.

cinnya 08-11-2011 04:33 PM

Not a drop down here   All around us to the north and east, just missed us,BUT we got the cooler temps too.So nice to be able to open the doors and windows
We didn't have to turn on the air until 2 this afternnon..
The weather patterns finally seem to be changing ,allowing cooler temps and rains to come in, now all they need to do is go a little bit to the south so we can have some too.

Ruby the Quilter 08-11-2011 05:05 PM

We had a little rain early this morning and didn't reach 100 today! Looks like for the next week we will be under 100 and a good chance of rain.

ranbro 08-12-2011 03:39 AM

Sorry, no cool weather here in central tx. Still 102 today and NO rain since early May and that was only 0.09 inches. Yikes.

Rettie V. Grama 08-12-2011 03:56 AM

I thank God you are getting rain. Some friends and I started a prayer chain asking for rain for the 3 states. He sent the rain.
Amen! but we won't stop praying.

Julia 08-12-2011 04:34 AM

Hi Jacquie
This is so odd, I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondering if your part of the country was getting the wonderful rain that we were getting here in Fort Smith. Glad to hear that you did.
We have had over 30 days of temperatures from 100 to 115. Such a relief. Got up this morning to 69 degrees. What could be better. Makes one a little more lively. Have a great day.

edensgaite 08-12-2011 05:34 AM

No rain here in Quitman Texas, but it only reached 100, that was a bonus. I watched the radar yesterday and it was as though Moses was parting the rain clouds (instead of the sea)as they approached east Texas.

It's going to rain, it's giong to rain, it's going to rain...

mimee4 08-12-2011 06:05 AM

I'm so glad you had some rain. The Southwest is in my prayers.

sash 08-12-2011 06:54 AM

Got rain here yesterday too. What a blessing; just about 1/2 inch at the house, but it was great. DH said it rained a little when he got up this morning. Kids all live in East Texas and I tried to send it their way, but guess it didn't make it. Suppose to rain again this afternoon. We will see. Thank you Lord for the rain. Please send more.

jaciqltznok 08-12-2011 08:08 AM

woke up to lots of thunder..but alas.. NO rain...they are still calling for severe storms again this afternoon/evening..hope we SOME rain out of it....

pflum1 08-12-2011 08:10 AM

Sure Thankful it rained in Oklahoma. We farm near Enid and sure need the rain. Ponds are drying up.
I live in the DFW area, no rain, just hot, hot, hot.

Abby'smom 08-12-2011 08:46 AM

congrats -- it's not cool here, but we have some clouds that from time to time conceal the sun for a little while -- would love to have some rain too

Julia 08-12-2011 11:02 AM

Sorry, don't know of any retreats here, but Grandma's Log cabin, south of Greenwood, may have one. I will inquire and let you know later.

grandma sue 08-12-2011 11:04 AM

We've had 3" of rain in the Tulsa area. Some high winds but I'm loving this rain. Rained this morning but sun is coming out. But it's so cool! In the high 80's. Never thought I would say that's cool. Electricity better come back on by next week-end in Enid! So looking forward to the retreat.

And we soooooooo enjoyed the rainy, cool day yesterday... It was a welcome respite... hot again today, but it gave us hope that eventually someday it will rain again and be cooler again...
