hi all. i haven't been on the qb in like forever it seems. since my move and new job, i have done no sewing and it driving me crazy.

everose thank you for the wonderful rak of selvages. i was so surprised and it was so timely. i do not know where my camera is stored right now so no pics just yet.

update on my job: i love it!!!! i work for a haiti ngo (non-goverment organization) that makes a supplement to reverse the effects of malnurished children and their moms. the pediatrician that i work for developed this peanut butter supplement and we just finished building a new factory in haiti to make the supplement there. the accounting work was so behind and messed up when i started so all of my time has gone into trying to straighten the accounting records and general ledger out. and i am just trying to keep up with all of the haiti records, board meetings, office stuff that i have to do and not drown but i am employed so no complaints.

i do hope everyone is doing well and i know i will be back on the board soon. take care all.

mary

I must add my very late thanks to Everose, too, for a lovely package of fabric and other things. Will post a photo when I can.

Mary, I'm so glad you are loving your job. That's great news!

I haven't been around a lot either as of late. First because I took a booth at the Irish Day festival here in town. It starts with a parade and ends up in the West End of the island where there are booths and LOTS of drinking. I've been frantically trying to get everything together for it in the hope that I will at least make my money back!

But more seriously, my aunt, who is the 81 year old family matriarch, is gravely ill with stage 4 lung cancer which has gone into her liver. She is a non-smoker and still works for DC Comics and is a docent at the Museum of Natural History. It doesn't end there. My dear aunt is a very serious hoarder. She has filled her duplex to the brim and then filled her neighbor's apartment, too -- neighbor is in a nursing home. Oh, and some storage facilities, too. Think that's bad? She has 18 cats! We thought there were "only" 11 but found more. My heart is breaking for her. She just wants to go home and take care of her cats, but that isn't going to happen. So ... prayers, please!

Hmmm -- I see potential for at least l8 RAK's going out soon. Don't forget to punch a few holes in the boxes.

But seriously, what a fantastic life your aunt has experienced. I bet she could tell some wonderful stories. And it sounds like somewhere in her treasure heap are some amazing finds with more amazing backgrounds. There should be some kind of cat rescue in the area, privately run, that could help you deal with the "pride" since I don't think that's all that uncommon a situation. If I lived closer, I could be persuaded to take a couple off your hands. I'm so sorry to hear about the whole situation. I went thru a similar situation a few years back with a very dear friend. When she entered the hospital I had to call her only offspring, a son who was a preacher in Texas, living less than 3 hours away, to come to her side while she was still coherent. Very tragic ... but your aunt is blessed by having people who love her enough to care by her bedside. Bless you all.

Prayers to all, I'm sorry about your Aunt as well, if I lived closer I could take some cats.
But I did send out 11 RAK's on Thursday, one to Canada and to Ireland, how fun this is and none of mine had to have holes in them. LOL(no cats)
I hope Wuv2quilt is better as well because we walk in the mornings together since we live just 2 miles away from each other, and I've missed our walks because she has been sick.
