The apps that prevent robo calls have been found out they sell your info! Until the powers that be start getting robo calls a dozen times a day then nothing much can be done about it. The Do not Call list has never prosecuted any abuser have they? They harassers are smart enough to know how to be legal. Many doctor and other important services use auto messaging about appointments and don't leave voice mail and that can cause a lot of problems if not answered.

I have a basic flip cell phone for emergencies, so far I've been living with the bad calls. I get one each day from China, sounds fascinating but I'm sure if I understood it I'd be bored with it too.

I've never ever given out my cell number to any company, for any drawing, or any other way -- so I already know they are lying to me. I have given the number to about 7-10 people and unless we are trying to met somewhere they don't call me on it either.

Many calls are a result of signing up for contests, your banks, credit card companies, etc.
Check carefully when the mail comes from companies with which you do business. Hidden in the small print it will say to the effect, that they will share your information with "partners" unless you opt out in writing. (not an email or phone call - a letter)
By the time I opted to not share, my information was out there.

I just tell them how many miles are on my vehicle then...silence.

We had a policeman speak at our local senior citizens center. He said if you get a call you don’t recognize do not answer. If you do then they will know this is a good number and will store it on their list for future calls. But if you don’t answer they will give up because they will think it is no longer a valid number.

i hate those.now do not answer those and block them later.
told my son yesterday my Yahoo got at least a dozen spam emails on job hunting. Why in the world did i get those? not looking!

Just went out to the nomorobo site and followed directions for my carrier.....done.
There are some carriers who are servicing landline phones that do not participate with nomorobo...but most do.
We will see.

I just set up norobo for my home phone but found out that there IS a charge for cell phones, so I passed; I don't answer when it's someone I don't know anyway. I wish the phone companies would find a better way to stop this so the consumer doesn't have to do their job for them. Always someone to screw up a convenience for the consumer.

These callers are really clever. One day my husband got a call on his cell phone that showed as coming from me. The problem was, I was sitting in the same room with him at the time. Can these robo callers hack into your call log and show the incoming call as coming from the last number received/dialed on your phone?

I got so tired of checking incoming calls that I changed the ring tone on my cell phone for the people in my contact list to a "special" one. If I don't hear this "special" ring, I don't even bother to pull the phone out of my pocket.
