Robo calls

How is it possible that I am getting these calls from my home number. Who are these people and how and why is this done? I am so tired of all these robo calls. Something really, really, really need to be done about this.

I agree. But in the meantime, I absolutely refuse to answer a call from someone not in my contact list. The only exception is if I’m expecting a call from a person/company that is not in my list. Otherwise, they can leave a voicemail.

I never answer the phone if I don't recognize the caller and this is what is being advised now especially for seniors. My husband's Eye Dr. uses a 800# with no ID and wonders why we never pick up. I also have a call blocker the kids gave me for Christmas which allows me to block any caller IDs that say "wireless caller, out of area or private caller" or any number I want to. So satisfying to hit the red button that says Block caller.

I've been using "No mo(re) Robo" for a few years now. Free, simple and easy.

Live people like doctor's offices or whoever can push the button and leave a message. Regular callers are recognized. I probably have at least 5 blocked calls per day.

I keep my answering machine on. If it isn’t someone I know, I don’t pick up. With that being said, I got one at 7 this morning! I didn’t have to answer it but it still woke me up.

Same here with the answer machine. If anyone I know calls, their name shows on the screen otherwise, all calls go straight to message. I am on the telephone preference list that is supposed to stop this sort of stuff but a few sneak through about 4pm a couple of times a week. It is usually the same number. When I looked them up on whocalls me, it was a quick loan company otherwise know as Loan Shark.

Our police department recommended not to answer any calls not in your call list. Make them leave a message. It's a hoot to hear the ones that want to help me with my federal student loan. They are real people calling. Really, I'm 57.

The calls come in late in the afternoon because robo-callers expect us to be too tired to resist their spiel.

I keep getting a call saying they see that my car warranty is just about to expire, and press 1 to talk to a person so that I can get the warranty extended. Just one problem, the warranty expired 17 yrs ago on my 2001 Cheverolet:)
