Am a night owl..... Sewing at night is relaxing for me. Don't get interrupted

Jan in VA 01-15-2011 10:25 PM

I'm up late because I slept late this morning. Earlier I handquilted as I watched the Miss America Pagent. Normally I'm a late to bed, late to rise sorta gal.

I sleep at odd hours. My dh gets up at 3 a.m. to be at work by 6. Lots of times I stay up the night and go to bed when he leaves for work. I like the quiet of the night.

gaby4v 01-15-2011 10:29 PM

Well, it's only 3:30 p.m. here in Japan. But I am a night owl too!!

DebraK 01-15-2011 10:31 PM

just reading, now, but I'll go take a picture if you like.

debbieumphress 01-15-2011 10:37 PM

I just finished playing cards with the neighbors and getting ready to cross stitch a quilt pattern. I am a night owl too. Stayed up to close some sales so I can get some shipping done. Hi over in Japan. I have lots of cousins and uncles in the tokyo/Shijuku areas. I lived over there in Sagimahiara and Zama. My daughter was there three months last summer getting to know her cousins too. I love it there. Have a great night all.

I'm watching this board, playing some games and watching The Dirty Dozen with hubby. We love to stay up and sleep in whenever we can :)

quiltsRfun 01-15-2011 11:08 PM

I'm awake cause someone is snoring. It doesn't usually bother me that much but this weekend we're visiting my parents and their bed is smaller than ours. Also, different room, different house, etc. Too bad I don't have anything to sew. That's what I do when I can't sleep at home. Next best thing - check out the quilting board. :)

Hosta 01-15-2011 11:11 PM

can't sleep at all the last couple weeks so here I am 2am wide awake thinkin sure would be nice to start something but I have no oomph at the moment until the pain meds kick in I sit and wait and try not to moan too loud

luvTooQuilt 01-15-2011 11:20 PM

I know what you mean. Somehow I can't stay away from this place.

Momma_K 01-15-2011 11:41 PM

I can't sleep, I think I'm coming down with a virus. Stomach cramping and cold chills, sorta aching all over. Feel yucky...

T-Bones mom 01-15-2011 11:58 PM

Pain in my left arm is so bad it woke me at 2:30 a.m. and here I am on the board. I have medical reasons that keep me in pain a lot so when I am awake because of it I can not even sew. Bummer. It is a good thing I do not require a lot of sleep because I certainly don't get much.

Yuck.. just got over that. No fun. Had it from both ends. seems like everyone i talk to has it or had it. hope you feel better soon. Not much you can do except try to keep warm and sleep

pamkasperi 01-16-2011 12:13 AM

I am up because I fell asleep about 10 p.m. and then woke up around midnight - I would sew except it might keep me up even later than this

Wish there were something I could do to make your pain go away . All I can offer is my prayers.

Quiltforme 01-16-2011 12:17 AM

Tonight my 5 yo will not go to sleep! Some nights it is the pain I just cannot sleep when I hurt.

MrsMoe4487 01-16-2011 12:26 AM

I started working on a new project.....so there for my brain its running with ideas how could I possibly sleep! Plus I don't work tomorrow so I have a whole day to work on it...so I should get to bed lol

Momma_K 01-16-2011 12:38 AM

Thanks Caroltee, I'm headed to bed for now I think. There's a lot of this stuff going on here too. Yuck!

G'Nite All....

raptureready 01-16-2011 02:16 AM

I'm up (got up at 3 am) because DH couldn't sleep. He was having cramps in his amputated leg--phantom pain, muscle cramps even after 32 years! So, after getting him some meds I was completely awake and got on here. I think I'm going back to bed soon to catch a couple hours so I don't fall asleep in church. Yes, even in a loud, rambunctious Pentacostal church I can fall asleep. To be honest being there is so comforting it's quite easy to fall asleep if I'm tired. Goodnight, ladies. Oh and gentlemen too if you're up.

tuxedokitty 01-16-2011 02:27 AM

Hosta - pain meds, what's going on? Hope you are doing okay. Myself - just can't sleep again. But hey, that is how I ended up finding this board originally and glad I did! :)

Murphy 01-16-2011 04:12 AM

And I thought I was the only one prowling around in the middle of the night (Laughter). Glad to hear this behavior is 'normal'.

diane647 01-16-2011 07:40 AM

Are they your pups in the picture? If so where did you get them. I'm looking for a pup similar to yours if they are yours.

I'd give anything to find a good church like yours! If there is sleeping going on in my church, it's because the pastor is so old and gets off on subject. The spirit is so dead, I'm only there becuase mom is in charge of the PrimeTimers group. Other than that, we both want to find something more alive!! Hope you enjoyed todays service!

Ditter43 01-16-2011 08:21 AM

Since my DH retired, I stay up later and sleep later in the morning. He is an early riser. This way we both have some alone time each day! I have always been a night owl anyway, so it was a natural thing for me to do! :D

purplemem 01-16-2011 09:10 AM

Ditter, that's what my dh and I do. He gets up between 3 and 5, sometimes that's when I go to bed. I'm up by 10. We both get alone time and shared time. Really works well for us.

isewhappy 01-16-2011 10:27 AM

I love quilting at night. I have a laptop next to my computer - I log into Netflix and watch a streaming something (t.v. show or movie). No interruptions. No commercials. I just have to remember to do the cutting early on. Cutting late is a no-no.

My kinda woman!!! (Late to bed, late to rise that is)

Rann 01-17-2011 05:10 PM

I'm a night owl. I usually don't go to bed til 2 or 3. If I go earlier, I wake up and can't go back to sleep.

Dee 01-17-2011 07:02 PM

I'm a nite owl. I like the night hours as I seem to come alive. I am not a AM person since I retired. DH and I really don't have any set times anymore.

Jill 01-17-2011 07:04 PM

I love staying up late, usually sewing and checking the QB. The quiet is so nice. The only problem is I get up early so sometimes during the day I get a little tired. I just take a short nap and feel refreshed. It's great being retired, now I don't have to force myself to go to bed early to get enough sleep.

Judie 01-17-2011 07:31 PM

i just don't sleep very much at all. I used to sleep, but as I've gotten older I sleep less and less. I don't get sleepy during the day, so I guess it's okay. Last night I slept from about 4:30 to about 7.... and woke up on my own.. I don't know anyone that sleeps like I do.. or don't!

What do I do?? anything I want that doesn't make enough noise to wake up my long sleeping DH!! Mostly read the QB threads, watch tv, read, sew, clean.. whatever strikes my fancy!

annette1952 01-17-2011 09:34 PM

I am a night owl too but since I live alone I can be if I want to. I do things when & if I want to! LOL My daughter has a fit & thinks I need to get back on a schedule of going to bed early & getting up early like her & her DH do. Well if I was still working I probably would but I enjoy what I do & I enjoy my way of living. LOL

Pickles 01-17-2011 09:49 PM

I never sleep at night , the bad thing is I can't use the sewing machine either for waking my DH. up. So I read and listen to
Coast To Coast on the Radio, I plain to sandwich a quilt top and try my hand at Hand Quilting at night while listening to my Radio . It is so hard when your sewing room is in your bedroom as mine is.

Anna.425 01-17-2011 10:45 PM

LOL, the quilt forum!

Hi Jodie my name is Carol ....now you know someone that sleeps like you do... or don't. One thing different... My DH can sleep through any noise I make. He says it doesn’t bother him... I guess after 49 years together he must not mind or else I don't think we would still be married.

Tropical 01-17-2011 11:30 PM

I only sleep every other night. This is the off night. I tried though because we have to be up at 5:00 AM. Wait a minute, I didn't sleep last night either. Bummer.

not_sew_sane 01-18-2011 12:10 AM

On my break at work. Have worked third shift for years.
