She found me!!

I lost my old dog back in the fall and could not afford to get another. I was thinking and had seen that even some "rescue"-ing dogs were over $100 or more. After reading this wonderful post, I decided to actually look for an older female. Oregon Humane society has a wonderful program where dogs over 6yrs are about $85 and as another older female, my discount was $50!!!!

And so Lyla found me! She knew I needed her and I'm just so thrilled to hear a tail "whap" the floor again! I'll be forever grateful to Rebecca of burchquilts for her post! Will send a copy to the humane society. :)

Beautiful ending to your story. Rescue dogs that I foster are free. You really have to do a lot of investigating to find the right place. I am glad you and Lydia found each other!

I now have goosebumps all over and tears in my eyes of happiness.....The post that made you go looking for your furbaby made me sad (because I would like to rescue ALL animals - DH says NO WAY) but your post has put such a beautiful finish to it. Thank you for posting -

She is beautiful and quite regal. You are a blessed lady.:o

nannyrick 06-06-2012 03:47 PM

Awww, what a wonderful story. I,m so glad you got her and she is sooooo sweet looking.

Kitsie 06-06-2012 03:59 PM

Thank you all so much!! Have to laugh at what her previous owners had to say about her, mostly very good, but doesn't like a lot of fussing over her? May not be good with children? Hah! My DGS came over to meet her and used Cesar Milans "no touch, no talk, no eye-contact" but he just slid down the wall until he was sitting on the floor. Lyla came over, sniffed him, gave him the tipped-head question look, and lay down with her head in his lap!
Yep, she's got real problems!! LOL Can't tell you how my eyes welled up when I first heard her tail "whap" the floor! Just like Clyde! (My DD 2 are both bobbed tails)

So thanks for helping me enjoy her even farther!

sewgray 06-06-2012 04:59 PM

This is a win win situation. I'm so glad for you and Lyla. My own fur baby is a rescue also, he has brought me so much happiness and laughter, I wish the same for you.

sewready 06-06-2012 05:05 PM

So happy you adopted a rescue, we have had many dogs through the years and every one of them were rescues. Each of them has a special place in my heart.

jaciqltznok 06-06-2012 05:09 PM

that is just awesome..good for you and Lyla!

Kitsie! I'm NOT a crier! Y'all KNOW I'm NOT a crier! And now you've got me crying like a baby! I cannot take any credit for wonderful, beautiful Lyla coming into your life (BTW... had Leo been a female, we were going to name him Lyla, too... GMTA!). It was destiny & I was a mere conduit, via Leo via the rescue group I got him from. It was just meant to be. I am so, so, so happy for the both of you! She's so beautiful & I know she'll have a wonderful, loving forever home with you. I couldn't be happier! Hugs her for Leo & I, OK? And keep us all posted on her journey with you!

luvstoquilt 06-06-2012 05:42 PM

She is just beautiful! My last 3 dogs were all rescues and my cat was a stray baby in the park. They bring such joy and I am glad you have each other!

You know the saying... "My favorite breed of dog is rescued"... so true!

SouthPStitches 06-06-2012 06:55 PM

She's a beauty. Looks quite a bit like my neighbor's dog. There is something so very special about a rescue dog. With a little patience, they bond so totally to you as if they realize the gift they have been given.

Dolphyngyrl 06-06-2012 07:28 PM

What a cute chow chow mix, for some reason chow mixes always come out the sweetest dogs even though the purebreds don't have too many nice ones.

Kitsie 06-06-2012 08:29 PM

And more importantly the gift they are giving you makes them confident and relaxed I believe.
and yes, SouthP it is funny how the pure Chows can be domineering and bratty but the mixes, like many breeds and other animals like horses are often the best! Thought I saw Chow Chow in her though her card said Shepherd mix! Seems like every unknown breed is a shepherd mix if medium or large and the small are Terrier mixes! Whatever. Here are two old ladies making each other's lives fuller. She's not as big as she appears - about springer Spaniel size.

Kitsie, so glad you found Lyla or she found you. Nothing like having a dog around, they are such company. She is a very nice looking dog.

Walter'sMom 06-07-2012 07:50 AM

Love your story - she looks so happy to have found you!! I am sure she knows that she has found a truly forever happy home. Happy for both of you.

carolynjo 06-07-2012 08:25 AM

She's adorable and how wonderful that you rescued her. You 2 deserve each other.

Happy Cat Quilter 06-07-2012 08:34 AM

Congratulations and what a beautiful fur baby! We just rescued a lab mix puppy. If we hadn't taken her (cost $71 to cover spaying and shots) she would have been put down the next morning. She is wonderful and fits in with the other 3 very well. Now, the cat has taken a while to warm up.

So glad you have a "new" pet - and I'm glad you were able to adopt! I had a co-worker who had 2 cats for years, one of them darted out the door as she was leaving one day. She was heartbroken - put up flyers, posted ads, checked the humane society for months. Finally she decided it was time to move on and went to the humane society to adopt another cat. They refused - they said because she lost one cat, she was an unfit pet-parent. Good grief.

nancia 06-07-2012 10:41 AM

she is exquisite! lots of love for both of you!! couldn't make it without my ladies!

Kitsie 06-07-2012 11:37 AM

Peggi, that is so sad!!! Please tell her that there many places with cats to adopt and she should not give up (as I almost did).
