I know people who make special trips to the reservation for cigarettes. Way cheaper than they pay around here... You aren't supposed to be able to do this, but I don't think anyone watches too closely.

Did you get permission to take pictures of the dancers in their Regalia? It's considered rude manners not to.

I go to the Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma and every once in a while they dance and it is so good to see the beautiful costumes. Then we can take pictures with them. I admire being so proud of your heritage. Beautiful pictures. Thank you.

Then you should know they aren't costumes , its referred to as Regalia.

Here in NC, it is the Lumbie Indians and the Cherokee that have their annual pow wows. Never got to go see. Of course they are here in my big city but up on the reservation in NC Mountains and down in Lumberton.

yes, i asked opermission first, i called them costumes for the general public to enjoy. it was simply fascinatingl. too bad the sun was so bright that the colors didn't cojme up the proper colors

the reason they are cheaper is there is no tax on the cigarettes they sell. . I believe native americans are exempt from taxes. something makes me the the amish are too.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was going to comment that they weren't costumes they were clothing but yet I didn't know what they were called. No different then if you went to a reservation and they called our dress costumes. For that matter you can not insult a civil war re enactor more then calling their period correct clothing a costume. Now there are people who wear what they THINK is 1860's clothing however if it is not period correct THAT is a costume.
