I had some precious household helpers when I worked full time with parents living with us. The time they saved me from routine cleaning gave me extra after work time and weekends to spend with the parents. Wouldn't take anything for the memories of time spent with them. The helpers also would come and stay on weekends so DH and I could slip away for a weekend. We both are retired now, and parents have passed. I use FlyLady's (flylady.com) approach to cleaning so I don't have to spend a whole day or weekend cleaning but our home is always presentable. Maybe in the future I will hire someone to help with cleaning but the time being all is good. I have a cleaning plan, work my plan and have time to sew too. :)

You have me considering it now - sounds really good to me!

Years ago my hubby was putting me through college. He worked as a truck driver. All his co-workers said he'd put me through school and I'd leave him. He just said "Nope, never happen, she hates dishes and laundry too much to get rid of me." Too true.

I had help with cleaning, until I retired. Now I'm doing it and the quality has dropped off. My DH idea of cleaning the bathroom is to flush!LOL! It's Ok for people to write their names in the dust,as long as they don't date it!

Good for you to get help with cleaning.
Whenever my husband asked what I wanted for Christmas the only answer he got was "a cleaning lady". I now have someone come every 2 weeks. I love it!

I managed without help for all the years I worked but about a year ago, decided that I wanted some help. My husband is a sweet, sweet man, but no help at all around the house and we have a big place and a demanding garden. So I have a nice lady who comes over and spends one day each month cleaning like a whirlwind and, in the summer, a young man who comes and does all the really hard work outside. It makes a huge difference in the quality of my life and it ended the little pity party I was one because I didn't have time to spend on the things I wanted to do. My Mom is 90 and it gives me more time for her as well. Interesting though, there's still no "spare" time. I use it all up.
