I disagree that there is any parallel with same sex marriage at all. In the case of people of opposite genders, they get to chose once at least!

I just have to say...I'm so pleased that we can discuss this without anybody having their feelings/thoughts trampled on!! I love this board!!

I have watched it a couple times. I don't agree with their lifestyle choice at all. But it is their choice and they seem to be happy. I would be extremely jealous of sharing my husband with another woman.

I would love to know how he financially supports all of them!!! I know that a couple wives work, but still how do they do it? DH and I both work and it is hard for us somedays with only one DD at home.

I watched it last night and told hubby (the one and only) that I really wish those girls would speak the TRUTH. Now THAT episode I would not miss. Sorry, but the way that punk behaves (talking about the communal husband) is like he is 16 going on 13. It's all about his penis and his ego. He makes me wanna puke.

Yes, he is a little like a kid but hey, he's got the candy store!

Its on TLC. And I think its Sunday nights but I am not too sure. I've only seen it a couple times. Makes me sick to think of that man sleeping with 4 women when he is only legally married to the first one Mary. Have you noticed that car that "he" has not sure what kind it is, but he needs to sell that car and support all of those kids that are his and not all the women working to support "HIS" kids he had with her. He needs to stand up to his responsibility and I say he should get a Vasectomy. Geez hes got 13 biological children. And then the 4th wife has 3 kids of her own. I can only wonder what all of those kids think about their dad and their mothers. I can't even write what my mind is thinking (no its nothing bad its just that the situation has my mind so boggled it doesn't know what to think.) To each his own, but leave my husband alone, I refuse to share him. And hes not one to share me either!!

I watched the episode where the first wife was having jealous problems with bringing in the new 'sister wife'. they went to dinner for their anniversary and she asked him how he would feel about her bringing in another man, and he called if vulgar. If it works for them, cool. Hmm about more then one husband? just think of the honey do's that would get done! LOL just kidding.

roflol! see that's what I thought! Or maybe we could just clone our hubbies! No way I am sharing mine though. hmmph! I put 25 years in training him.....I'm gonna be the one to benefit from it!

I find the show fascinating, especially since the four 'sister wives' seem like such likable women. Personally, I could never live like this, but I respect their choice if it works for them. I just don't think it's up to me to criticize anyone else's lifestyle if it's not doing harm to any one else.

Showing my ignorance here. He is legally married to the first one. The other three are the cake and icing. Not understanding the law, isn't this their private life? Why is this not seen as him having a wife and the wife agreeing to him having 3 live-in girlfriends? Yeah, he is re-populating the world. But isn't that a private matter? As far as I know, he is not claiming the "wives" as dependants so what laws are they actually breaking?

Like I said, I would never share, but how is this different from a guy having a mistress who doesn't live with him vs. a "wife" who does and the real wife doesn't mind? Educate me.

These people are Mormons and some Mormons practice polygamy. It is not legal, has not been for many years, but it is their contention that it is part of Mormon religion. We believe in one man/one woman relationship (marriage) and they have the man-made law of polygamy.

It isn't a religion that I would or could believe in but they do. Edie
