sliced bread

I don't know how far this is, but locally the bread is being sliced larger so you get fewer slices per loaf. something like Texas sized.

Interesting. I haven't noticed that here.

Bizarre. Even in 'small town Ontario' we can get regular sliced bread. I don't care for the thick slices except for French toast.

a particular bread I buy was cut thicker once but not again. odd. I prefer it thin.

Here in UK I have noticed that shops no longer sell thin sliced bread. Either medium or thick. I
M just glad I learnt to cut very thin bread so I buy unsliced. .

We have all kinds here in the big city! The bread aisle at the gigantic store is impressive. I've been stopping a lot at CVS Pharmacy lately and they just started carrying nice soft regular sliced white bread, not thin, not thick. Nice for sandwiches.

I don't usually buy what I call American bread...like loaves of italian or French ( called that) then slice myself...but I have noticed those breads will mold very quickly unless I keep refrigerated...have had to toss a few half loaves out lately.....have been buying that kind of bread for years, but from a " bread bakery" which delivered to local store....now am in an area where only " big" grocery stores....bake their own....must be a different recipe...or like everything else...cutting down on something....less for more$$$$$$$

Make my own most of the time. Learned bread making from my German Grandmother. She never purchased a loaf of bread in her lifetime. I do purchase at the store sometimes, but purchase the bakery bread and put it in the frig....otherwise, you are right, it gets moldy quickly...this is due to not having the preservatives in it.

We mostly buy rye bread slices are as tall but thin. The special bread I buy for other uses has nuts, grains etc. Very good and better for me than white bread. The only white bread I would consider is homemade but, I don't have any time for it.

The bread isle at the WalMart super center drives me nuts. I want to buy one of everything. I hate white bread - sticks to my teeth. Love rye.
