This is for all you smartphone users. What is your cell carrier, what phone do you have, is it powered by Apple or Android and what do you like/hate the most?
|
Just picked up my new smart phone on Saturday. It is an HTC EVO phone. The carrier is Sprint and it is an android. So far I like the phone. It is a lot better than my non-android phone. I can get my e-mail direct to the phone in case I'm not close to a computer, I can see Facebook great. Daughter has had one for a few months and she wouldn't trade it for another phone.

Just got the HTC Thunderbolt, on the Verizon network. So far, love it! It is an Android phone, and pretty easy to figure out. I can even get the quilting board on it, wherever I may be!
|
I just got my daughter a LG800G for tracfone.
She got triple minutes - 1200 minutes- 1 year of service for around 120.00. I have informed her that when she uses the time units up she will not be getting more!!! Thought it was a good deal - emergency phone. It is a smart phone. |
I have an iPhone by apple. I haven't found anything I don't like yet. I hardly ever get on my computer anymore. I can get on all the quilting forums I belong too. Check my emails and get on face book. Take pictures and videos. Send text messages. I don't know how I ever lived without it. LOL!! It even keeps little man busy when we are in the car, what more could I ask for!

I have the Droid. I've had it since it came out. I just love it. Have Verizon, unlimited data plan.
|
I have a Blackberry Torch. It drives me crazy sometines.
|
boy i feel old. i have no idea what a smart phone is. expensive is all i think!
|
I have the Droid X on Verizon. My son had it first then he got the Iphone/Verizon and gave me the Droid. He wishes he had the Droid back, He says it does things faster and simpler than Iphone. Also, the GPS really works on Droid the Iphone only works sometimes. So far, I like the Droid. It is harder to get used to than my LG V-touch was. But its like a small computer, it does everything. I pay my bills, buy on Ebay.com pay with paypal. Read books, listen to my music. I just sold my laptop as I don't need it anymore. I have my Ipad and my Droid. Life is good.
|
I have an Ally with verizon android. I hate it, it is a pain. The tiny little book they give you is useless and the PDF download is just to complicated to read. I'm also not to sure that once this contract is up if i'm going to renew, change carriers or just go back to a regular phone. Maybe a prepaid.
|
I had to get one for work and opted for the iPhone 4 with Verizon. I absolutely LOVE it! It helped out tremendously on our last trip (directions, traffic). Love having a camera on it too!
|
I have a Droid X with Verizon and love it. It's a really great phone... I agree - the gps works fabulously - and not all phones have free navigation so you have to be careful with that.
The Droid X even has a spot where you can add a wrist strap which is fabulous for those of us that take our phones on vacation and might use them for taking pictures or letting the kids play Angry Birds... Having said that - I know nobody else on Verizon so the whole call others for free bit is lost on me. Everyone I know is with AT&T or Sprint. We left AT&T because they didn't have an unlimited plan for their smart phones and we didn't want to risk going over. I have read that Verizon will be doing away with their unlimited plans soon.... |
I received a Blackberry for Christmas. The idea was to have it be able to interface with the office e-mail account so that I can keep tabs on things.
But... maybe it's NOT so good to always be connected with work. It's probably not healthy to be checking e-mail just before bedtime, and even before morning coffee. This week it has come "disconnected" and ... it's been kinda nice, actually. What do I like about it most? It acts like a phone. What do I like least? It's pretty complicated, and because I don't know how to use the features, my kids think I'm ... old and ... dare I say stupid? |
ATT, but more than likely will switch to Verizon...Right now I have a smartphone, my first, an HTC Inspire, and so far so good..My reception with ATT has been less than desirable, too many dropped calls, and the road I take to go "to town"....I'm usually without reception more than I have reception....and it's not the phone, my last phone was worse....I do love my phone though....

I have an IPhone 4 with AT&T. I LOVE it! The best thing is I can video call my grand-daughter and talk and see her face to face, wherever I have internet access. Everything else only requires a 3G phone signal.
|
My husband and I switched from Palm Pre to HTC EVO with Sprint.
Love. I loved my Pre but Android just has so much more to offer in features and apps, and I LOVE the larger screen. I have a number of computers at my disposal but if I don't need to get work done sometimes I don't bother powering up anything but my phone. |
I have an Android, a Samsung Epic, Sprint calling plan (unlimited everything). I hate it, am hopelessly unable to use it. I'm not saying it's a bad phone - I don't even know enough to judge that! I can just about manage to make calls and answer them. Oh, I can get on the web, in a limited way.
I can't figure out how to put someone on hold and answer when another call comes. I can't figure out how to drop the voicemail I'm listening to, to get to an incoming call. It makes me literally cry! I can't get it to do anything I want it to (keep the screen on so I can see when the bars are going; make the sound of the caller's voice louder, not the ringtone; let me check my email without checking it for me...) The Epic's battery needs constant recharging. I replaced a Wal-mart phone because I never got many bars when everyone else was talking away. Best phone, decent plan, still same problem. So I can't give you much good input, except about the battery. |

Love my Apple iphone. I have AT&T no problems except when overseas. Had problems in Romania and Thailand, but not China or Japan. Love having Internet and email.
|
Anyone who has the Verizon unlimited plan is grandfathered in.
And we don't pay anything for our phones, my DH is a programmer and developer for Android. |
I have an iPhone 4 with ATT and really have had no problems with it. Very few dropped calls - one of my sons calls me on the way to work, and he dips into a no cell area, and our calls drop, that's pretty much it except for an odd one here and there. I love everything about my phone. I was grandfathered into unlimited data with ATT.

I don't want a phone that is smarter than I am. It is bad enough that I have a computer that is smarter than me.
|
I have the apple I phone 3GS. she's old now. I love her but my college student son needs a phone and internet so I'll be giving him mine. The phone can make a "hot spot" for his internet use for his laptop. this way is cheeper than the usb's that they sell. I have at&t for my service. Went in last Friday to take a look see and the gentleman behind the counter said wait till July 17th as they have 9 new phones coming out. Looked on the website saw a few i'm interested in but also noticed that at&t is now trying to compete with best buy's insurance for the phones. YEAH!!!!!. So I'm getting a new phone. ONLY DRAWBACK TO IPHONE IS that Jobs won't allow adobe flash player. so reg computer for that.

I phone apple. Never used it much except to make calls untill I got on this board now I open to QB every morning it is like reading a Great book. Love it
|
DROIDX with Verizon. Love it. I have service when others do not. I am able to keep up with my e-mail wherever I am. Plan is much cheaper than getting internet service and I can use it almost everywhere,
|
Interesting to see the different opinions. I don't have a smart phone, but went the ipod touch route...I have everything but the phone via wi-fi which is available almost everywhere nowdays...and no carrier charges for a phone.
I have a cheap pre-paid phone for calls since I don't actually use a phone much. Just a different way to go.. |
I have Sprint and my phone is the LG Optimus S and I love it! It is just the best! AND, it usually dangles from my belt loop on a caribiner clip in the cool quilted case I made for it!

I have a Blackberry Curve. We also have Sprint as a carrier.
I love that I can download my granddaughters pictures on it and have a little photo album with me at all times. I love some of the apps my husband has put on it. |
I hate that the phone is smarter than me!

With Verizon your Friends and Family contacts can be on any service and they are still free. At least that is the way it is here.
|
What happens if you want to print something if you got rid of your computer? Obviously, I'm not acquainted with smartphones, but heard on radio there are less computer sales because of them.[/quote]
My smart phone is just a way to remain connected via e-mail, my laptop is still my primary piece of equipment. I use my DriodX when I cannot use my laptop as I do not currently have electric on my property -- my phone allows me to read e-mail and respond if necessary, therefore, I can delete read e-mails but when I have access to electric I use my laptop for research and file storage, as well as, printing quilt patterns for which I can cut fabric in preparation for piecing quilts on my treadle or handcrank machine. Having a smart phone and laptop allows me to have more flexibility. |
I have a Blackberry Bold on Verizon and an Iphone 3G on AT&T for work. I work in the IT Dept. and support on users on these models. I have a Droid on Verizon for personal use. All have unlimited data plans.
The Blackberry is great for the business user, especially the international traveler as we can easily change them to a global plan. I like the Droid very much, but I have one only because we got a 2 for 1 special when my husband needed a new phone. My favorite is the the iphone and when it comes time to replace my Droid, I will get one. I also support iPad users at work so it's easy for me to switch between the iphone and the ipad as the operating systems are so similar. I use all of them to check email. My iphone and ipad have personal programs on them such as checkbook register and password keepers. |
I have Iphone 4 on Verizon. Love the phone and Verizon network is the very best for coverage, I think. We travel alot and we never have a problem.
|
My husband and I each have an Iphone 3GS, with AT&T. We are very satisfied with both the phones and the service.
|
I have an iPhone3 with AT&T and have had it for a year and half. My whole family have iPhones and my next phone will be an iPhone. Love the ability to connect to the internet and my email, send email and/or text messages, take pictures and video. Video'd my granddaughter's 8th grade graduation and a grandson's talent show act. I have had a cell phone close to 20 yrs starting with a bag phone and going up every two/three years. Besides the whole family jave iPhones on AT&T.
