I just talked to my only aunt in Chattanooga. She and my uncle has had a little apricot poodle for about 14 or 15 years. Ginger was getting slower and couldn't hardly see, so they never let her outside by herself. The other night my uncle took Ginger out for her last duty of the night before bedtime and while she was walking a coyote came from the neighbors yard and grabbed her and took her off. They are devastated and my heart is breaking for them. I can't get that image out of my mind.

patty48 04-05-2011 09:18 AM

Oh no, I feel sick. That's like a child being snatched!!!! My heart goes out to them (and you). Hugs :-(

crafty_linda_b 04-05-2011 09:20 AM

Rexie that is too sad...we have coyotes here too...I live about 5 miles out of town in the middle of an alfalfa field. We can't keep an outside cat around. What the coyotes don't get the owls or hawks do.. I can't imagine how your Gpa & Gma must feel.
Sending {{hugs}} for them. Linda B.

sandyo 04-05-2011 09:20 AM

oh no, that is heart wrenching

dpparris 04-05-2011 09:21 AM

I am so sorry.

litacats 04-05-2011 09:25 AM

animals are literaly our fur babies they become part of the family. I am so sorry this happened to them and their little dog. these things can happen so quickly and it is out of our control to protect them in cases like this. I feel so sorry for them. And you. if the images come to mind try to think of the last time you saw the dog or of some happy memory of the dog, and try not to dwell to much on what happened.
Hugs to you all

Qbee 04-05-2011 09:28 AM

I am so sorry. That is devistating. I have a little furbaby and worry about the same thing. We have had a hawk flying overhead alot the past few days and it scares me to death. You poor aunt....again, so sorry.

belmer 04-05-2011 09:50 AM

Oh my that is terribly sad.... and for your Aunt to have had to watch that happen.... This makes me very sad. I'm so sorry for your Aunt and Uncle, And how sad you must feel for them and poor little Ginger! Our fur babies are OUR babies, I cannot imagine having to go through this. ((HUGS))))

gunny148 04-05-2011 09:54 AM

quilter1 04-05-2011 10:06 AM

I am so sad to hear about that. We have a terrible problem where I live too, and that's in a huge city. We have a lot of ravines and parks in Toronto and lots of shoreline too, so the coyotes love it here.

quiltsillysandi 04-05-2011 10:14 AM

Oh I am sooo very sorry....A horrible thing to witness and get over for them....Makes me shudder to even think about that happening to my little dog...Hugzz to them both....

Kas 04-05-2011 10:17 AM

Oh no! I would be devastated! Just knowing that might be what happend to one of my cats is bad enough, but if I had seen it with my own eyes...Praying they can erase the image from their minds. So, so, sorry.

What a horrible thing to happen. Your poor Aunt and Uncle to witness...and the poor old puppy...her last moments in life to be taken like that.

nativetexan 04-05-2011 11:27 AM

oh that is so horrible. my hubby put our 17 yr old cat out in the backyard at 2 a.m. to potty and something attacked him very fast. broke his back. coyote most likely or perhaps a fox. we lost him. now, we have 3 cats. a momma and her two girls. she brought them into our backyard at night for safety, so of course we had to let her in our garage and then our house.
so sorry hon.

joyce blint 04-05-2011 11:53 AM

Such terribe, sad news. So sorry about the loss.
We have coyotes here too. My dogs are large enought to fend for themselves....however, I do worry about my cats. They are spending much more time indoors than out so that might be a good thing.
Again, so sorry for the loss.

susanwilley 04-05-2011 01:36 PM

Gladys 04-05-2011 02:21 PM

Oh No, I'm so very sorry! What a terrible story and how terrible for them.

jljack 04-05-2011 02:23 PM

That happened to my nephew...a coyote grabbed a puppy through a hole in the fence and took off with it. My nephew jumped over the fence and started chasing the coyote through some empty fields. The coyote realized he was being chased and was losing the race -- my nephew runs really fast, and that puppy was screaming!! The coyote finally dropped the puppy. They took it to the vet and it had a couple of tooth punctures that could be fixed. Nothing bad happened. The puppy was luckily fine.

I am so sorry your grandparents lost their little dog. That is so sad for them. It must have been pretty traumatic to actually see it happen.

Dolphyngyrl 04-05-2011 03:23 PM

How sad, One of my favorite boarders from my last job, a beautiful blue british shorthair cat named shadow was killed by a coyote. the whole office was so sad. we all loved that cat like our own.

oldswimmer 04-05-2011 03:29 PM

So sorry to hear that. That is just devastating and so sad.
I am so sorry for them and it will take some time to get over that terrible incident.

Jim's Gem 04-05-2011 03:33 PM

That's horrible!!!

We have some troubles with coyote's around here with smaller dogs and cats. People that live closer to the hills have to be really careful!

brushandthimble 04-05-2011 04:41 PM

So sorry for their loss.
