Maybe some morning you'll wake up and the quilt will be all sewn up! Great story!

BETTY62 02-25-2011 07:40 AM

Love it. You started my day with a smile.

JanP 02-25-2011 07:58 AM

Well, I had a ghost in my machine -- with no canine assistance! My Janome would just start up on its own when my back was turned. Had to buy a new foot control for $90 for a machine that was just a couple of months out of warranty. Grrrrr!!

I've read that Janomes have that problem -- looks like it could be fixed. Maybe like a Toyota recall?

Sandra-P 02-25-2011 07:59 AM

I just love our animals and how they keep us company and entertained. Cute dog!

grandma anna 02-25-2011 08:07 AM

I would have peed my pants! My mom has a regina (large, upright music box) that played by itself once. She was vacuuming and heard a strange sound. She turned off the vacuum and the regina was playing! You have to know that to get the thing to play, you have to select the metal music disc with the dial, crank the handle and then push a bar that releases the keys. There is no possible way for it to start by itself. She was alone in the house since I was at my boyfriend's, my older sister was at college, dad was on a business trip and little sister was somewhere. Don't remember that part. But I was seriously freaked out since it was up to me and the guy to check the whole house for strangers or spooks. Never did solve the mystery.

sheila bee 02-25-2011 02:21 PM

Maybe someone got it ready to play but change their mind and just left it, then when your mom was vacuuming the vibration jared the bar loose.
No matter what that must have been a frightful ordeal.

Yooper32 02-25-2011 05:50 PM

And here I was, totally immersed in your story and just waiting for the impossible, that it really was a spirit sewing away on your machine and suddenly...poooof, you burst my dream bubble with a long quilting pin and a poodle.

Judie 02-25-2011 06:19 PM

I had that same thing happen.. scared the peawadden out of me.. I didn't think I believed in paranormal sorts of things, but I did that night.. Probably took 10 years off my life!! I don't think I've ever been more scared.
Silly animals can really get you going.

YOU told the story so much better than I would have.. You need to get a good illustrator and write a kids book!!

Cassews 02-25-2011 07:17 PM

nwm50 02-25-2011 07:19 PM

wow ... I took sage and burned it when I moved in here, dh thought I was nuts, but I went through every room and told the ghosts if there were any that a complete family lived here and no one need to be here. IT was time to move on.. and so far <kn ock on wood> no ghosts !

jojosnana 02-25-2011 07:51 PM

fabric whisperer 02-25-2011 08:49 PM

too funny, one of my dragons did that once, and all of us jumped, as we didn't realize he had gotten into the sewing room (he is about 1.5 pounds, and is *just* fat enough to make the pedal "go") haa haa! Glad it was the dog, not a ghostie :) I would have had the willies for awhile!
