We call it a Tulip Tree. The green leaves that come after the blooms are soft not hard like a magnolia tree. It blooms early and some years the cold will kill the blooms before they open up. That is usually the years that it gets the peach crop also.

Love your magnolia tree. We are having snow again. And it hasn't stopped snowing yet. Coming down hard once more.
