We used to give the pants a quick shot of hair spray.

I love static guard. Sometimes it is hard to find, but I get it at the grocery store. It is usually on the top shelf near the fabric softener. Every store where I have purchased it, they seem to have it there. Near the color catchers. I keep a can where I get dressed and another can in my locker at school. Static in my clothes drives me crazy. I sometimes spray it on my hairbrush.
I just saw something online that said to put a safety pin on the inside seam of your pants to stop static. It sound kinda crazy to me but could be worth a try.

I have pins in my jackets and they do nothing at all for me, always get a jolt.

Static cling is not usually a problem where I live, but I did read that if you pin a safety pin to the inside of the garment, it will stop it....don't know if it works, but what have you got to lose?
