I realised that I was reading this thread sitting completely off kilter, and it's because of a cat sitting right in front of me staring at me. LOL! The adaptations we make for our critters. Yesterday stormi not only stopped me working, but discovered the thread when I tried to sew a little more when she let me stitch for another 30 seconds. Pawing at it and snapping at it with her teeth. This after putting her on my lap (one of her favorite places) twice and having her get up anyway and move back onto the fabric. I now get to un-thread the machine and hide the thread whenever I stop. What a brat. :) I guess I now have another reason to like one of the more modern machines in the house - the hidden thread path.

Grace, that's a 301A I'm trying to stitch on. One of the best for learning FMQ on. I don't have a 401A here anymore, I do have 411Gs, virtually the same thing. Many people say the 401 and kin don't FMQ well. I can do it, but the 301A is easier. Why fight it, especially when you're learning?

Cute cat! With Summer here, Socks doesn't bother me much on the sewing. A different story in the Winter. They just don't want you to pay more attention to sewing than to them, is my idea on that!Mariah

How precious for sure .. My avatar will sit or lay by the machine until she is fed up then she nuzzles my leg and wants to be paid attention to. Then she crawls up on my lap and stays for about 10 minutes, then decides we need to go outside .. LOL Spoiled rotten !!!

LOL - she's letting you know that you shouldn't pay more attention to the quilting than to her!

My large house dog used to sit as close as he could, sometimes on the foot control and my machine would start sewing - luckily no injuries to me but sometimes to whatever I was working on. He's been gone nearly 4 years. I would dearly love to have him around. We decided no more fur babies.

My cats are kept out of my sewing room by a baby gate. I prefer no hair on my fabrics. I use to have to share a smaller sewing room with them. I had to put everything away after each sewing session. Now I have a larger room.

I piled up a bunch of polar fleece about 10" high, for my furbaby to sleep on when i'm sewing that helps with the inspection process. plus I have a spot lamp that she heats herself under
