Now THIS is my problem - this is not JUST a part of my memories, it is my foundation of existence - I wanna go back to this time - it is my comfort zone. How many of you feel that way? and PROUD of it! |
Me too! I'm old enough to remember all of the 50s and 60s. I still listen to 50s and 60s music in my car. Makes my married kids crazy.
|
Great link! Thank you! Sure brought back memories.
|
Another mid-century gal here, I was around when they put the rock in roll, LOL!

I have to agree. Those were wonderful times. My parents could take my little sis and I downtown, drop us off, and let us spend the day there. I can't even let my DGD out of my sight in my neighborhood now

That was awesome!!! :D:D
Thanks for sharing!! |
It sad to think that he is right the 60's ended our innocence We can Never go back to those times. I think the start of it all was the assasination of President Kennedy.
There are some things I don't miss about that time period. I do love the music though. I think there was more originality then . Everyone didn't sound the same. And I can still sing along with the songs . LOL NOt that anyone wants to hear that even the dog leaves the room . I was not allowed to watch television much when I was a kid unless it was my grandparents programs so I missed a lot of what everyone else was watching. I graduated high school in 70 and sadly missed Woodstock altogether. I wish I had just went... If we could keep the good stuff and throw out the bad. Thanks for the memories though Hmm I wonder where my 8 tracks are..... lol |

I'm a 1980 model, but I have always loved the music of the 60's. When my classmates were swooning over New Kids On The Block, I was listening to the Beach Boys. My mom always told me I was born about 30 years too late. ;) |
I'm among the original "baby boomer" group born in 1946. Loved the era I grew up in (for the most part). My grandchild will never know the freedom and innocence we experienced....too much information overload for everyone these days.
|
LOVE IT - I was born in 1963 but my uncle was only 18 when I was born so experienced all of it through him. He is the one that introduced me to the Beatles - a life long love.
Thanks for the link. |
Damaquilts, I graduated in 1970,too. Loved the 60's!
|
Love the link. Thank you so much for the happy memories.
|
I guess you can count me in as one of those who miss certain aspects of the good, old days. Can't help but sing along when I hear one of the oldies but goodies on the radio. I think they're the only songs I actually know the words to. Songs these days don't seem to have understandable lyrics. I will admit though, they really make me face my mortality. Can't believe I'm one of the "old" folks now.
|
Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for sharing this link. What a great overview of that time period! It brought back so many memories and made me smile. Am going to pass this along to my son.
I don't feel stuck in the 60's. I have noticed that I often feel bombarded with sensory overload and need to retreat to a quieter place to "dig in the dirt", make bread, knit, sew or quilt. I do have The Beatles on my iPod. :D |
I graduated HS in 62 and remember those years well. When my DH isn't in the car, the radio is switched to FM and the best Golden Oldies the world has ever known.
I find it funny that they've been making commercials using that music for years....the kids and grands are amazed I know the words to the songs. LOL |
Thank you for the stroll down memory lane. The sixties were the last "happy times" I remember of my family. After fighting over the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement, my parents were divorced by the mid-seventies, I was sent away from what little home was left, and the direction of my life changed forever.
I don't know that I wish to return to that time, except for the happiness and security I knew as a child then. |
I would love to go back to that time...so much fun..Kids now days can't have the fun we had at that time..how sad..my GD loves for me to tell her about that age..I taught her to do the twist and we also did the limbo...well grandma tried to do the limbo..LOL
|
I still like the music but would never go back to the 60's. I remember too vividly the VietNam War. My brother and husband were there and I will never forget taking them to the airport and our mothers's faces when the plane took off. I remember the news on the TV each night and the weekly get-togethers with my Mother to bake cookies and send the care packages to my brother who was out in the field. No, I live in today and take the lumps where they fall. I am very grateful for what I have now.
|
I was born in Mid 1961! While I was not GROWING UP during the 60's I still LOVE the movies, the music and the cars from that era!
The 70's were pretty good too, but not like the 60's! |
loved my 60s! I actually even loved the music from the 20s/30s when I was a teen - dont know why, loved the big bands and old movies on TV (on one of the 3 channels ABC/NBC/CBS) sharet
|
Wow, that was a blast from the past!
|
I would not want to go back to the 60's for anything! Three assassinations (J. Kennedy, M.L. King, R. Kennedy), Vietnam War (thousands of young men killed), Civil Rights Protests, etc. No way would I want to go back. However, our society did seem to accomplish some better policies: no draft and a bit more equality.
|
I graduated in the 50's and remember a lot of good things. One of the advancements I could do without is anything that can't just be turned ON or OFF - The new technology isn't for me. AND the TV stations I have no intention of ever remembering their names and the funny part I dont think the younger ones will either/hardly. -- J

Thanks for the post! I was "molded" during the fifties and sixties and I am certainly proud of it! Great memories, wish my children/grandchildren had had the opportunity to grow in times like those. I feel very bad for them today!

I'm in the process of building my own radio station consisting of the 60s music on Pandora. Love it. That era is where our sense of responbility was born. Not too many younger people have that now.

The penalties for failure to register can be a real hindrance to a man obtaining financial assistance for college, eligibility for Federal job training and federal jobs. Only those who can provide compelling evidence as a conscientious objector can have this requirement waived. Having five sons, four of whom have now registered (and one who failed to follow through in a timely manner...you wouldn't believe the tenor of the letters we received!!), I just wanted to set the record straight on this important point. Edited: Failure to register can result in a fine up to $250,000 and 5 yrs in jail. Failure to register is considered a felony |
I loved the 60's as well. The house is a charmer. I bet you are having a lot of fun visualizing the final result! It would be nice if you could also send the kids/ grandkids out to play with out worry but it's not to be in this day and age.
I'm looking forward to more pictures! It is a blast from the past but a nice one for you to share with us! |

I'm pre WWII, so the 50's are more my time. Also, with a Navy husband, we spent 61 to 64 in Japan. Arrived back in the US a week after JFK's death. Back overseas to London in 66 to 69. I missed most of the 60's except for the American influence overseas. But your video still brought back good memories. And I was on the cutting edge of the British influence! They were happier and simpler times. You never locked your doors unless you were out of town. I don't remember locking my car either! Schools were quiet and kids were busy learning. Music was played at 40 decibels instead of 140! So many memories!
|
I also graduated in 1970. Some good times then. Yes, you could sing along with songs. Those were happy times.
|
I grew up in the fifties and sixties...miss the music and the moral values...sigh.
|
I am a child of the sixties. There were a lot of things in this film that brought back memories but the one that hit me in the face was the push-button Chrysler transmission. We had one of those cars and some wonderful times in it. We used to take it to the drive-in movies (another by-gone pastime). Thanks so much for this.
|
Thanks, I loved the early sixty's and could have stayed there forever..
|
OHhhhh man did those bring back some memories !! Many many good songs !
