Those seem like strange books for a summer reading list. Your son must be older than I was thinking.
Eat, Pray, Love is OK at best in my opinion and I can't see a kid plowing through it. Mao is pretty good if you are a bio nut which I am. Does the poor child even know who Mao is?? |
I use the library too.

I'll start looking. I LOVE bookstores and I'm sure my husband may regret this. :D

The Emperors of Chocolate: Inside the secret world of Hershey's and Mars
sounds like the best one. From a chocoholic... |
Is from a business perspective, so I don't expect much. Poor boy is going to be so bored. He likes theoretical physics and this is what he gets.

I don't think your son will like Eat, Pray, Love, either ;-(
It was highly recommended to me by a very close friend, so I slogged my way through it. Wish I had given up. |

Cheapest Dharma Bums I could find. I studied Kerouac in college. I think I was the first generation that was allowed to. And we had to fight a bit. I did a thesis on Allen Ginsberg. And my ex-husband was a Kerouac scholar. |

Another thing is that many counties let you use any library in the county, so if a library in another town has the books, you can just get them at that branch. I don't feel too sorry for Jorge. Everyone who goes to school has to learn things and do assignments they don't care about. It will broaden his horizons a bit, and honestly, reading about chocolate can't be that painful. Eat, Pray, Love sounds fascinating to me. I see that it's being made into a movie with Julia Roberts. I'll have to check it out. |
I placed an order with mcKenzie Books and got 8 books for $25.83 and shipping was free if you spent $25. They were used but all in excellent condition.
