that is really nice. How do you make the design - weaving the colored yarn through the fabric? What kind of fabric do you start with? Really nice.

Monks cloth. i got it at Joanns. they only carry white and ecru. 60 wide. back in the day..they used Huck Toweling, it was done on kitchen towels and other items..
yes, yarn..weaving in between the sticks or threads . let me see if i can find the tutorial i started out with..it was very clear.

I knew this as Huck weaving. I did a few dish towels too.

That looks great. On the WEB there is an embroidery site called 'HERSCHNERS". They have so much needlework. (I hope that is spelled correct.)

Thanks for posting your tutes and sites, I think I can do this!

They great think about google or search engines, is it "knows what you meant" lol

i have been to their site, lots of beautiful items..but no monks cloth or anything or swedish weaving. they have a huck towel set..but i think you use Emb Floss on that one.

Would I be able to get your patterns with the hearts. They are very beautiful. I am making a blanket for my granddaughter? Thanks for your prompt reply.

My mother called it Huck Weaving.

I was gifted with a piece done by a scruffy little 79 year old farmer in ND, one of my fav things, the other piece was called (sp) hardanger, he did such lovely work, just beautiful!
