I use sugar or honey. In recipes or on oatmeal I might use brown sugar and for icing I use powdered. I don't use any artificial sweeteners at all. And I'm picky-I only buy Domino brand sugar. We buy local honey.

My MIL tried Stevia (Truvia brand) and had a horrible reaction. She got rashes on her hands and feet that went away as soon as she quit using it. We don't know if it was the actual stevia or another ingredient in the truvia but I think she's gone back to splenda.

I'm with you Kelly. The real thing (sugar) or honey. However I do use Splenda in some of my baking when I am taking it to a social function and mark it as such

I use sugar for baking, mostly brown sugar, and am trying to use more honey, I am trying to be more healthy!

I grow my own stevia and have the leaves drying today, I use it in my smoothies. I use raw honey, liquid and powder stevia but do use beet sugar for baking and hummers. The baking is almost always for others.

I use plain ol' sugar. I figure a little of the real stuff satisfies more than a lot of the artificial stuff. I know diabetics have no choice but so far I don't have to worry about that.

I use Splenda when not using real sugar. That is because it is derived from the actual sugercane; just that the body doesn't absorb it, so don't stress over bad ingredients.

I use sugar for some things, Splenda for others. I also use Splenda brown sugar. DD likes for me to core an apple and stuff a marshmallow down in it. Then add a pat of butter, a spoon of brown sugar and another marshmallow on top. We put that on a saucer in the microwave for about a minute or maybe 1.15. It melts the marshmallow, sugar, and butter forming a caramel sauce and it cooks the apple. I think the marshmallows have enough sugar in them so I use Splenda brown sugar. We divide the apple three ways and don't have it too often but it's a nice simple treat now and then.

Now just how many of you are thinking, "Are there any apples in the fridge and do we have any marshmallows?"

I use Stevia almost exclusively and have for years. A little goes a long way so it's not really that expensive. I also have Sweet n Low on hand. Don't bake so the only thing I use regular sugar for is to make nectar for the hummingbirds. Love this website as it's so enlightening and fun to read. Thanks to all of you for making it the great thing it is.
