Taking pre-orders for snowballs!

OMG! They are calling for up to 24 inches of snow for us between Monday afternoon and Wednesday AM.

Anyone what me to send some snowballs their way??

Thank goodness I don't have to go to work - out with bad knee, but I don't want all that snow. It always leads to power outages, deaths from accidents and from snow removal.

Hope everyone in the northeast is ready for this storm. Guess I better bring the shovel into the house! Thank goodness for snow blowers and generators!

QltrSue 01-25-2015 10:32 AM

Terrible timing! Was taking hubby away for a few days to Portsmouth, NH and Portland, Me. for his birthday, but now can't go because of this blizzard coming!!. Waaaah!!!! Well...guess I could sew...if we don't lose power:)

So sorry. We had two inches in So CA the last day of December 2014 and it was total chaos here because we hardly EVER have snow. Took over three days for it to melt away. I guess we got the snow instead of Las Vegas.

pocoellie 01-25-2015 11:29 AM

We would GLADLY accept snowballs, or rain, we haven't had any decent amount of snow since '08 and virtually no rain this winter, plus the winter has been 10-25 degrees warmer than normal.

lildinks2013 01-25-2015 11:42 AM

Ill take a baker's dozen to start. We only get a dusting here if we are lucky.

QUILTNMO 01-25-2015 02:07 PM

just be safe that is alot of snow!!!

Boston1954 01-25-2015 02:25 PM

YES!! Believe it or not, I miss the snow. Will be in the 60's this week. I want to go home. All I need is hot chocolate, and a quilt.

Cheryl7758 01-25-2015 02:56 PM

I don't mind the snow - I just don't like more than about 4 inches at a time! I am still hoping that the forecast is wrong!

lovingmama 01-25-2015 03:41 PM

I hope this comes through, look what you are able to do with all that snow!

Love

nanacc 01-25-2015 03:57 PM

Thanks, but we have our own! Not that much, but we got about 6" this week. Sunshine today and warmer so it's melting pretty quickly.

Cheryl7758 01-25-2015 04:58 PM

dyeing fabric with snow - how neat!

Update on snow forecast - now a possible 30 inches!!!!!!!!!

jetayre 01-25-2015 05:10 PM

How about I swap Vermont Snowballs for your snowballs. Same storm.

nativetexan 01-25-2015 05:35 PM

that storm sounds ominous!! I hope everyone stays safe and warm as possible. when i first moved to Colorado we got 3 feet of snow. Took 3 days to shovel it all off the driveway for us both! (())

the next two days here are to be in the mid 60's and then go down again. odd weather!

ro 01-25-2015 05:39 PM

make sure to put your freezers on high. in case we lose electricity it will take longer for the freezer to defrost. happy quilting.

barri1 01-25-2015 05:52 PM

I am so looking forward to the snow storm... I am not planning on having a power outage.

Sandra in Minnesota 01-25-2015 06:49 PM

Minnesota is very far behind in snowfall this winter. But, that's ok - you can keep it. Just stay safe, help your neighbor, if possible and enjoy the beauty of the newly fallen stuff.

NJ Quilter 01-25-2015 07:37 PM

Yes, the latest 'storm of the century'. Although I think we're going to get a pretty good dose here in central NJ as well. I think we're in the 20+ inch range currently. We have a generator handy; food in the house; plenty of sewing for me to do while hubs is working his butt off for the next 3 days. We had about 6" on Sat. Just grateful I have nowhere other than home to be. But I did spend many a year traveling in this stuff. Not fun. Makes me appreciate being able to be home.

zozee 01-25-2015 08:51 PM

You could be walloped up there! We're in Maryland and expect 6-8" in our county. I like snow unless we lose power. I plan to stay in, quilt, and play Monopoly with my son .

I was going to say the same thing!! (Have to admit that I do love the snow though...wouldn't mind a nice new covering!!)

donac 01-26-2015 04:26 AM

I have a half day today and then who knows when we will be back. I hope that we don't lose power so I can spend the day sewing. I have 4 ufo's lined up to finish for a challenge at my quilt shop.

sandy l 01-26-2015 04:27 AM

SO is watching one of the morning shows and they are talking about this storm and all the mess it's going to be. Airlines are all ready cancelling flights to and from the area. Your storm passed thru our area (Northern Ind) yesterday afternoon and evening, but we only got a couple of inches from it. Our main problem is just going to be some blowing and drifting. Sorry we couldn't be more help for you, so stay warm and safe.

Roberta 01-26-2015 06:21 AM

This is really going to be a terrible storm here in New England. I just finished shoveling the 4 inches we had on Saturday and my back is aching. Now to shovel 24 + inches will not be fun :-(

maryfrang 01-26-2015 07:01 AM

So far this year, we have had only a trace of snow here. We usually get some snow, but not that much. Here when we get 3-4 inches they close schools. When we get 20+ they close everything. In fact we are in fire warnings because it is so dry.

coopah 01-26-2015 07:46 AM

My BIL is on his way to us from PA and stopping at all his friends and relatives. He escaped just in time to beat the worst of the storm. From news reports, it sounds like a very bad storm. Hope all QB members stay safe and warm. Today at 9AM it was 59 degrees, but with a stiff wind from the north, it felt way colder. I can handle that, but snow...not anymore, thanks be! And no need to send any snowballs, but thanks for the offer!! :D

Hi, there - I was just going to say that it is supposed to go up to 42* today- it is thawing all over the place - and it is supposed to be the coldest time of the year around here - and we have the Winter Carnival going on - Ice sculpture melting as we speak.

You guys out east - take care, be safe -

WINTER EXISTS TO MAKE SPRING FEEL LIKE A MIRACLE.

Edie

nannyrick 01-26-2015 10:12 AM

Bless you!!! I sympathize with you. We had ours in November and hope that was it for
the next hundred years, (yea, right). We were lucky tho in our area, no power out.
Hang in there and hope it will pass quickly.
Elaine in the Buffalo area, Snowvember Storm.

I feel your pain. Last winter we got 18 inches in twenty four hours! Usually we only get a couple inches per winter so this was crazy weather for us. Stock up on coca and stay warm. I am praying for you. Here is a picture of our snow at about 11:00 am and it had only stopped for a few minutes. The ruler is a twelve inch and within an hour it was covered!

tessagin 01-26-2015 10:27 AM

I don't miss the snow but miss my family. They live in northern Indiana (Ft.Wayne area and outlying counties). Sending prayers for everyone in it's path. Have been in enough not to want to be in any more! thanks for the offer on the snowballs but I'll pass!

pegquilter8 01-26-2015 11:52 AM

Loving the TWO days off due to storm! I plan to sew and if the power goes out, I'll clean:D (ya, maybe) or knit.Like a mini vacation.
Please stay safe all you QBers that make my life special. Oh by the way use the gorgeous fabri dyed in the snow for an art quilt. Looks hot so maybe a sunset or a spectacular sunset. so many ways.

feel really bad for all the snow we had plenty lt year be carefull

RuthiesRetreat3 01-26-2015 02:20 PM

I wish all the trains with empty cargo carriers back east would load them all up with snow and bring them to central Texas or California to dump the load, then go back east for more. That would help the dry states and maybe lessen (ever so slightly) the floods the easterners are expecting with warm temps and all that snow melt.

meanmom 01-26-2015 05:03 PM

Hopefully you have enough fabric to keep you busy.

susie-susie-susie 01-26-2015 05:07 PM

Thanks for the offer of snow balls, but we have enough of our own. The little covering of snow on out driveway keeps melting and freezing. I think it's ready for ice skating now. Glad my car is in the garage!!! DH's truck is in the driveway, and I worry about him falling and breaking something. I fell last year and really bumped my head--gave me 2 black eyes, but no head injury and no broken bones--Just looked bad for a week or so. Don't want a repeat, so I think I will stay in the house. Stay safe and inside. That is a lot of snow to shovel. Please be careful.
Sue

craftymatt2 01-26-2015 05:34 PM

Oh my!!! Please keep all snow and snowballs your way.lol...We havent had much, I need to move to a much warmer climate. Everyone out east, please be careful, stay in and keep warm.

sailsablazin 01-26-2015 06:06 PM

Put all of those gorgeous quilts on top of and on the sides of and all over your freezers. We packed our freezer in sleeping bags the last time that we lost power for any time. DO NOT open it. The only thing that I lost were a few popsicles and we were without power for several days.

sweet 01-26-2015 06:37 PM

I'd like one small, one medium and one large please. Looking for my carrot and coal now......

IrishNY 01-26-2015 07:40 PM

I confess I'm jealous. I love the silence that descends on the world during a storm and the way the world comes to a halt. Once the snow is done falling, I will be thrilled that we were not affected, but today I wish I was up north. :)

nanacc 01-26-2015 07:54 PM

I just read some reports about the blizzard hitting all of you 'back East', as we say here. Please take care of yourselves and be careful!!!! Thank goodness the snow we had was an unusually calm with no wind...a rarity in the Texas panhandle! I hope all of you kept some of those quilts for your own warmth.

Yes, I too pine for Massachusetts. Miss the snow and miss family. I remember the Blizzard of '78- was finishing my last semester in college while traveling on a community health nursing assignment. Took 4 hours to travel a 30 minute ride. As years passed by and more winter weather came its way, I remember walking 1 mile to get to work as a critical care/ trauma nurse in a blizzard. Those were the days.

lots2do 01-27-2015 12:11 PM

If there's an overwhelming demand for more snowballs, i have plenty of the ingredients here in NH as well. Our first snow day this school year. It's been very relaxing so far! Stay safe, everybody!
