Silly thought but... just happened to glance at "fabric_fancy's" avatar.... born to quilt tattoo .... and wondered if any of you quilters out there have/wear(?) a tattoo ??

dkabasketlady 04-11-2011 07:15 AM

Not for me!! I did have my belly-button pierced when I was younger, but not anymore.

lovingmama 04-11-2011 07:17 AM

I think nowadays the question is, who hasn't a tattoo.

texpat45 04-11-2011 07:19 AM

Absolutely not!

Butterflyblue 04-11-2011 07:20 AM

I have three. But none are quilting related.

Not me. Pierced ears are as far as I go with self-inflicted pain!

ditto

MissSandra 04-11-2011 07:23 AM

I had a peircing gone bad so bad i was at the surgeons often not again and I was warned not to ever tatoo due to the staff infection.

TonnieLoree 04-11-2011 07:28 AM

The aging process seems to be taking care of unique body defilations. I will not pay to speed this up.

champagnebubbles 04-11-2011 07:30 AM

I have them. I do not regret them :)

CristyK1 04-11-2011 07:33 AM

When I turn 50 (which is 12 years from tommorrow) and I'm still doing Martial Arts (I do Tae Kwon Do) I want to get a tattoo that says "Kick A** like a Girl" across my lower back. But that's still a far ways away.

Mickey on each ankle

Terryl 04-11-2011 07:34 AM

I have 5, though they are in areas that I can conceal them should I want to, actually unless I tell you, most people don't think I have any. Ahhhh, to live over the days of my youth...

linken 04-11-2011 07:34 AM

I agree!

fabric_fancy 04-11-2011 07:36 AM

LOL

that avatar pic is an actual temporary tattoo that my niece and i wear when we go to quilt shows.

we get stopped all the time as shows from ladies that want to buy them.

it became so much that i go with little sheets of paper with the web address written on them.

i also teach children to quilt thru the school system in my neighborhood and thru girl scouts and i give them all a tattoo when they complete their first project.

its a real motivator for them.

here's a link to the tattoo if any of you would like to buy one or more.

I got one started over a scar from a cancerous tumor removed. Big mistake. Hurt too much. Sort of a rose...lol
But when my lil sis passes all the family members are getting a tat with her name. Mine will be on my wrist under my watchband with a little crown and Mickey Mouse head.
My sis is 52, blind, Down Syndrome, with many medical problems, yet she gets up everyday and makes the most of her life. She was a great artist before she went blind.I love taking care of her, with the help of 2 providers and adult daycare.

MommaDorian 04-11-2011 07:42 AM

I do. I got an autism awareness ribbon last summer. I love it!!

dixiebelle162002 04-11-2011 07:47 AM

Absolutely not!

bkb 04-11-2011 07:47 AM

No tats here. don't want to watch a pretty little rose bud turn into a long stemmed blob!

Chasing Hawk 04-11-2011 07:49 AM

I have 5.

one on each shoulder blade, one on my right calf, upper left chest and right upper are near the shoulder.

redkimba 04-11-2011 07:50 AM

I would get one, but at the moment I don't know what I want. I would also get one to drive my Dad nuts. (direct quote - no daughter of mine will have a tramp stamp.)

raedar63 04-11-2011 07:50 AM

I had them before they were "cool" which P*&^#s me off! I LOTHE being trendy , thank goodness I can cover them all up if I choose. I am going to get a 1\4 sleave when I can afford it.It will be for my personal viewing and will remain covered in public. Never judge a book by it's cover , a funny story...

I am a critical care nurse, a fairly respectable profession, I keep my personal life very private from work. I was getting report from another nurse one evening and she proceeded to tell me that the young woman whose care I was assuming was "trashy" well I can not stand when people are jugemental so I asked why she would say this, she replied"well she has tattoos all over her back and legs" I then replied " Charlene, how long have you known me?", She replied " about 5 years why? I then said what do you think of my character? She said I think you are a great person what are you talking about? I then proceeded to pull up my sleaves, pull down my scrub top, started to pull my pants down well you get the picture, Needles to say she turned very pale and then very red! Moral of the story .... JUDGE NOT !!!!!!!!!

Bet she thought twice from then on about judging a book by it's cover :)

My daisy is fast becomming a sunflower, lol, it's all good I love them too!

janell2009 04-11-2011 07:52 AM

No tats... but that temp tattoo.. looks like fun to me..

pamkasperi 04-11-2011 07:52 AM

I wanted a dragon fly tat...until my daughter publically said "yeah it will look great now but in 15 years that dragon fly will not be on your hip it will be on your knee and look like a teradactyl (sp?)..." I stopped looking at tattoo pictures and tried to keep from smacking her for her honesty ;)....in the end the blunt response (no idea where she gets THAT from) was appreciated because she was probably right! - besides my one of my other children reminded me that I really don't like needles and they have to use a needle to put the tattoo on!

So - no Tattoo's on me!

lllog 04-11-2011 07:54 AM

Not me, anything that involves needles just doesn't appeal to me. I spent 28 in the Navy without one, not going to start now.

I had one of mine touched up recently at a tattoo convention, by the same company as the original was done though my artist has since passed away. (He wasn't young when he did mine, but he was awesome).

Lv2sew2011 04-11-2011 07:55 AM

I only have a small hummingbird on my right shoulder, and that's it!

Too funny!! I seem to be having the same issues!! No, no tattoos for me...but I do have one of those temporary ones in the avatar....keeping it for a special occasion!

BellaBoo 04-11-2011 07:56 AM

I don't think I could tolerate markings on my skin that didn't wash off. I'd feel like I would need to wash it off. DD got a small one when she graduated college. Her next Christmas gift was us paying to have it removed. Thank goodness she chose the new easy to remove inks. My youngest came home one day with wings and whatever across her back. It was a temp! (DH was livid anyway) It lasted all summer! Before it was gone she was embarrassed by it so no worry about her getting a real one. My teacher friends tell me that the young kids now think real tattoos are for old people, the new temp body art is the future.

I have 7 and love them all.

MadQuilter 04-11-2011 08:01 AM

I really really really want one BUT can't decide on the where or the what. It would have to be covered with regular work clothes. It could not be affected by weight fluctuations (butterfly should not turn into Mothra!). It should not be affected by hair growth (don't want the bearded lady on my calf). AND I have too many spots on my skin and connect the dots is not a game that I want tattooed on my arms. lol

I did have a great idea though. I have a scar just above the - ahem - "coin slot" from back surgery, and I have a scar on the front from my hysterectomy. Wouldn't it be cool to have a zipper on both sides? Too bad they won't tat over scars.

lileth1374 04-11-2011 08:02 AM

Doctor advised me not to get one because of diabetes, but LOVE them anyway!!!

wyckedquilter 04-11-2011 08:03 AM

I have both lower legs sleeved out...my avatar is the last one I got about a year ago. I love them and don't regret getting them. In fact, I've won awards at tattoo competitions for my tattoos...working on putting a plan together to get my arms done also... :)

mimom 04-11-2011 08:17 AM

I have none, my husband said he would divorce me if I ever got one. However, he wants to get a flathead engine on his shoulder. How is that fair. Maybe I will get me a new sewing machine since I cant get a tatoo

kat112000 04-11-2011 08:19 AM

I have a dragonfly on my right shoulder. I waited until I was 35 to get one and I love it!!! I want to get one on the top of my foot, but not sure what yet.

I had no idea they had evolved so much as to be washable in a few months. That's a great idea.

I don't have any tattoos and don't want any. I would rather accessorize with other things. Don't want to get one that would be covered up with clothes, what would be the point? And Bella, I'm with you in feeling like I would have to be washing it off. Too funny!

I have two, not quilt related. Has anyone ever taken a gander at Karen McTavish's tattoo? She obviously designed it herself, it is a huge victorian feather on her arm. She also sings with a heavy metal band! Here is a link and you can see her tat.
