Even tho we are having a 90 degree plus heat wave this week I am trying to remember last winter when I said I'd never complain when the summer heat finally came to Michigan.

We're hot here in Iowa, too. It was 79 at 6 a.m. this morn. Son is a welder and was working on some grain bins. Started getting sick, so quit for the day. Just hope all of those who are working outside, drink enough water. Right now I would welcome that 6 ft. snowdrift on my patio. I don't go out unless necessary. The heat & humidity make me sick. Everyone, take care. Marge L.

For us that dwell in the Sonoran Desert of AZ that's a normal summer day. We have more high heat advisories this year that ever before. Only one real thinderstorm but at least four mega dust storms called Haboo's. They are 3,000 ft. high and 10 to 20 miles across and move from one side of the Phoenix Valley area to the other. I sick of spitting out grit that is able to get into the house air through the AC vents. YUCK !!! Someone must have really crossed Mother Nature this year...

Robinmg 07-19-2011 03:11 PM

It's been 100 or over here the last couple days and the air conditioning at woek hasn't been working. That really makes for a long miserable day.

auntiehenno 07-19-2011 04:10 PM

QuiltnNan: Now the Twinks won't be very happy you are not there, but I do understand. It was nearly 100 here yesterday with very high humidity and don't know how the Rockies or Braves braved it on the field.

Ricki 07-19-2011 04:46 PM

We had a soft rain in Houston area today. The first in months. So grateful.

Jeanniejo 07-19-2011 04:47 PM

Makes me CRANKY too !!!!!

I just feel so bad for my daughter who is 36 weeks pregnant and works in a warehouse with no air conditioning. She has already been hospitalized once for dehydration and once she got the IV she felt much better. Luckily she had one more week of vacation time that she took this week, but it will reduce her time with the baby after the baby is born. I highly doubt she's going to be able to go back next week either.

Well folks today here in Pecos. Tx.was our 44th straight day of over 100 up to 117. We had 21 days straight over 100 then 3-4 days in the nineties and then the heat started again. We did get a light sprinkle last week giving us a total for the year of 2/100's yes that's right this is the amount for the year. So the drought has definitely hit us here in West Texas. Lots of places around are rationing water. Most of those places get their water from lakes, we have been lucky here so far we have some deep water wells for our city water.
We have been praying for rain to help with the heat and also to replenish our ever needed water supply. So many of the ranchers have had to sell their cattle, because they can't feed them and they have run out of water to water the cattle. Cotton crop has gone to pot too.

I am so sorry, wish I could send you some of our cool moist air. Was 73 here today!

We had a long cool spring (last ski day was July 4th) but summer is here with a vengeance now. I prefer cool.

Speaking of getting the mail..... please spare a kind thought for the postal workers, not only the ones out delivering but also those working on the outdoor loading docks... (The five facilities I worked at had no A/C in any of the buildings or vehicles. Made having a hotflash even more fun!)

Yes,111 degrees and rising,and 56% humidity.Now as Paris Hilton says "THAT'S HOT"

postal packin' mama 07-19-2011 10:56 PM

A relative in New Mexico e-mailed in great excitement to tell me they'd finally gotten 1/2" of rain a week or so ago, on the heels of the driest 9-month stretch in the last 117 years. Wow; guess we'll count our overly-rainy blessings here in the Pacific northwest.

only 101 here in Killeen Tx cant wait for fall

Gramof6 07-20-2011 03:50 PM

I am not even going to look at the thermometer anymore. All I know well is that it is HOT!!!! And no darned relief in sight. We are in a severe drought as well. Happy happy. Not! I cannot wait until Winter. I can always add more clothes to stay warm if need be. With the wonderful fun hot flashes, extra clothing may not even be necessary. LOL When ya look at the News and their 7 day forecast is all in the 100's, it is enough to be downright depressing. I will stop my b*tc*ing for now. LOL

frenchrose 07-20-2011 07:16 PM

very hot in kentucky very hot.

Brandi 07-22-2011 07:32 AM

It is terribly hot here in Arkansas too. Yesterday it was 103 with a heat index of 110. If it is this hot this summer what will winter bring?

Winkee 07-22-2011 06:26 PM

It was 100 here today. Yuk I am not a hot weather person. The pool does feel good though. I have been swimming 1/2 mile every day and it feels great in there.
Thats the only good part about hot weather for me.

pippa45 07-28-2011 04:22 AM

Why not come down under,
