Man it is so hot here today even the central air can't keep up. It is 94 and with the heat index it feels like 115. It makes me feel like  LOL

QuiltnNan 07-18-2011 11:45 AM

someone offered me baseball tickets for today and i declined due to the heat. :)

Jim's Gem 07-18-2011 11:45 AM

Currently 78 degrees with SW winds at 6 miles per hour and 52% humidity. Gorgeous day here!!!!

blueangel 07-18-2011 11:46 AM

It is 108 here. HOT HOT HOT

ontheriver 07-18-2011 11:55 AM

We've dropped to the 90's but for the couple of months it has been 104 - 106 WITHOUT the heat index and about 95% humidity. Summer is always hot and humid in the South. Fortunately I like it.

pjaco 07-18-2011 12:05 PM

27 days over 100 here, I'm staying in !

butterflies5518 07-18-2011 12:07 PM

I love count of how many weeks of 90+ up to 102. Miserable here, shower, run errands, shower again!

RUSewing 07-18-2011 12:09 PM

Yes, OK is miserably hot and dry.. The drought is real!

Gardens to hay fields are burnt up.
Animals, large and small, are sufferring.
Long established cow-calf herds are being sold out, just being sold at market with no replacement plans = higher food prices!
Water rationing in any areas.

But that;s not as bad as the human toll, Poor folks with broken or no air conditioners.

jean1941 07-18-2011 12:14 PM

HOT HOT HOT here only set in house under fan with AC running...Hottest in several years here but it is Texas

Tink's Mom 07-18-2011 12:16 PM

It's hot here, too! in the 90's with heat index of 107degrees...YUCK!!!
and my goofy Tink goes in the yard and lays down to bask in the sun...I had to run out there and get her.

Tartan 07-18-2011 12:17 PM

Hot here too (94)! I'm staying in the AC and hoping we don't have a power shortage. My sympathies to the central U.S. sweltering in an even worse heat wave!

Fabaddict 07-18-2011 01:32 PM

I will enjoy the heat here in MIssouri - Winter comes much too soon. LOL

Painiacs 07-18-2011 02:00 PM

mamaheath 07-18-2011 02:21 PM

it was in the 70s here today and we had rain so it is very comfortable outside

jmabby 07-18-2011 02:41 PM

97 degrees, with heat index 113 degrees -- Mpls MN

Lacelady 07-18-2011 02:45 PM

Brrr, it's been 60 here today, and it's rained all day (it did that Friday, Saturday and Sunday too). I'll swap some of my cool for a little bit of some of your heat (up to 75 would be nice) and you can have the rain for a few weeks too!

Chasing Hawk 07-18-2011 02:53 PM

rainy and drizzling here.

jbud2 07-18-2011 02:55 PM

The skies are dark - we might get some rain! My husband is laying out in one of our hammocks. I was too for awhile and then said why are we air conditioning the house to lay out here in this heat? Hubby said he was inside all day, he has to be out awhile. So I jumped in the pool and then came inside. I hate to waste money. I think I'll go work on a quilt for a bit. . . .

scrappy happy 07-18-2011 06:00 PM

hot in wisconsin to. temps in the high 90* and heat index was 111*, the poor aminals and people who have to work in this heat. feel for them.

spartan quilter 07-18-2011 07:21 PM

We have the heat up north also. Temps in the 90's with 90's humidity, and with close to 10 inches of rain over the past 10 days, sloughs and ditches are overflowing. Now, we are getting the stench of stagnant water. And the capital of our state, Bismarck, is starting a recovery from their city being flooded, as is their neighbor to the north, Minot. Just so unfair of too much in one place and not enough in another. The sump pump in the basement kicks on every 2 MINUTES. A lot of ground water.

Our daughter and husband just lost 3 large grain bins due to storms of straight line winds, and even had a cattle feed bunk lifted over a fence and thrown into the trunk of one of their cars.

KwiltyKahy 07-18-2011 08:47 PM

At 11pm it was still 84 with a heat indes of 92. The heat really gets to me when it stays hot all night. If it's cool in the mornings I can handle it.

PurplePassion 07-18-2011 08:52 PM

Just imagine how it feels to work in a hot factory. Not fun.The computers and equipment wasn't working right.

Ruby the Quilter 07-19-2011 12:13 AM

We have had 28 days of over 100 degrees compared to our average of 14. Finally about a 30per cent chance of rain this week.

olebat 07-19-2011 04:18 AM

Yesterday I saw the weather map on the USA Today. The entire thing was shades or red with just a few areas of yellow. I'm so glad I'm in the yellow zone, even though it'll be brief. I don't have a thermometer, but it feels like the upper 40's It's great. Not looking forward to going back to the hot, steamy, South. On the other hand, I don't think I'd want to live here in the Winter. I know it is a ski resort, but I wouldn't want to deal with all the snow either.

You have got to be kidding!!!!!!!!! I remember one year my husband and I went to a Viking game with da Bears and it was probably the coldest day of the whole winter. The wind was blowing and we were holding coffee cups in our hands and shaking so bad the coffee was flying out of the cups. That was about 49 years ago. Makes for a fantastic memory!!!!!! Today the heat index is supposed to be around 115. What I wouldn't give to see the Twinkies play in that kind of weather - Both ends of the spectrum here!

We have a black dog - now, I always thought black conducted heat. Same weather here - and Bess loves to lay out in the back yard -- on her back -- looking up at the sun -- probably sunburning her tummy -- can't stand it!!!!!!! So I have been setting the stove timer for ten minutes and each time she wants to go out - set the timer - and then in ten minutes go out there and fight with her to come in, because you know darn well if it was you, you would be scorched. Then I finally get her in the house, sheet on the floor, because we feel guilty that she has to lay on carpeting, thinking this is cooler, fan on the floor, she flakes out there and sleeps - and then ten minutes later, same thing! And it seems like it is moreso when it is so darn hot out. They are sweet little critters though, aren't they? Edie

KLO 07-19-2011 06:36 AM

My DH keeps saying we need to move somewhere cooler but where the heck would that be? Seems like the whole country is frying!!!

Be sure and check your filter! Ours gets dirty so quickly (like a week!) when we run the AC so much, and it WILL effect how the AC works.

mhansen6 07-19-2011 06:46 AM

I wish I could send you our weather. We have rain, rain and more rain. It is only suppose to get into the mid 60's here today. We have had a day or two of summer between the rain storms. This is the worst summer I can remember.

julia58 07-19-2011 06:52 AM

It is quite comfortable here in the mountains. 80's and nice breeze blowin. But supposed to get quite humid later in the week. I sure feel for all of you who are miserable. Keep cool.

Sandra in Minnesota 07-19-2011 07:04 AM

Heat index here was 114 degrees. I've been in the house since Saturday and coming out to get the mail next Saturday. Can hardly breathe outside!

Sew and Sew 2 07-19-2011 07:26 AM

The electric company jumped on the "higher price" band wagon. They announced an increase in the electric bill starting in August. Just had an increase in July. They said it is fuel costs. Anything to hike the price.

Here is what I learned to do when I lived out in the desert and triple digits in the summer was the norm....no AC either. It works on the same principle as the cool scarves the military uses in Afghanistanan. Take a couple of ice cubes and roll them up in a dry wash cloth and drape it around your neck. As the ice melts and the cloth dampens it will cool the blood in the arteries in your neck, some major ones there. As a result you will be cooler if a little damp. The evaporation also helps. It is the same kind of thing hospitals use for heat stroke. The principal is if you cannot cool the environment then cool the blood. This worked very well for me even when I had to cook for a big hay crew during hot hot hot summer days.

FERSID 07-19-2011 09:49 AM

Currently 29 Degrees Celcius (84 Farenheit) and sunny.

They say risk of thunderstorms later today which would be good - cool things down, make sleeping easier and give the flowers something to drink.

mdollar 07-19-2011 09:53 AM

Hot here too, but we got a little reprieve from the heat with a weekend full of almost constant rain. Had about 3 1/2 inches in the rain guage, but we really needed the rain; it has been so dry. Back up again today in the 90s. I hibernate in the Summer! Can't wait for Winter to get here along with football season! ROLL TIDE Ya'll!!!!!

Keaghank 07-19-2011 09:57 AM

Yep - hot hot hot! With the humidity resembling the Amazon (according to the news)

AND... our power went out about 2am this morning. Tough to sleep with no A/C!

belmer 07-19-2011 11:20 AM

I love Summer here in Minnesota... But This heat is NOT Minnesota's average... Give me back my normal summer weather.
I think 89 degrees is going to feel perfect on Thursday!

meanmom 07-19-2011 11:35 AM

It is in the mid 90's here in Southern Ohio too. Very humid too. My husband works as a landscaper and my son is a mechanic who works in an not air conditioned garage. I get crabbed at if I complain about the heat. It is really hot. I was sweating walking in from the car.

Landers 07-19-2011 11:59 AM

My MIL lives in Springfield and she said the same thing to me last night! As hot as nevda get, here in Northern Nevada we have been in the 80s! but the news said this morning it is now coming back our way!
