A while back I mentioned in a thread I started about unclaimed monies. Well I received my last one the other day, from the great state of Texas. I had $200.00 waiting for me to claim. So about 5 months ago I sent in a claim for it. We considered it mad money, so my husband said to spend the whole thing on me! My first check was from Florida for $295.00 and I bought my Kitchen-aid stand mixer with it and some other goodies. And this check I got two more attachments for my mixer, some goodies from Joann's and some clothes from Lane Bryant.

I didn't post what I got in the way of clothes. I got 3 new shirts and some unmentionables. :)

So Ladies and Gentlemen......check the unclaimed property department of any states and your current one to see if you have any.

WOW, good for you. A few years ago my Husband found that Missouri had almost 2600.oo for him. We didn't know why and just put it into general funds.

So far I found.......

$100.00 for my Mom
$20.00 for my sister
$50.00 for one of my brothers
and a whole .18 cents for another brother...LOL

And knowing my Mom that 100 bucks went into her thrift shop money fund.....LOL

Several years ago I was "let go" by a guy who didn't like the fact I knew he was doing illegal things...City manager in a small city.....when budget came around he cut my position due to budget reasons, yeah right,...then, although knowing my home address, he sent monies that the city owed me to the State of Texas....I had no idea where this came from either.
So I filed when checking the fund info.....I had $1500 in Austin...glad I looked, and shame on the city for not sending it to me in the first place. Then I got a notice from the city that they had inadvertently included my social security number on a vendor request for proposal link on the city website! I thought about calling the IRS on what I know.....but I need references in my job search.

I got a couple hundred a few years ago. It was a paycheck from my current employer (CVS) - go figure!?!

Jealous, I want some. LOL Happy for all of you!

I got a letter from FL saying I had a couple of hundred dollars. But I had to get my ex husbands signature to get it. First I have no idea where he is at. Second it wasn't worth the hassle and Third I would never see it anyway because like all the other money from our marriage he would end up with it. LOL I hope the state puts it to good use.

I read this yesterday and checked the unclaimed property division of the state I lived in and found they were holding $500 for me that I had sent to my son in a money order 14 years ago that never got cashed. It is a mystery why he didn't cash it, it could have gotten lost in the mail, or who knows what. Anyway thanks for the tip, in just a about an hour I had all the paper work done and in the mail to get that money. Merry Christmas.

Dama,

The State will never contact you directly. I too got a letter like yours. And the Lawyer wanted his fee to process the claim. You can do all that yourself just by going to the state's website.

Where do you check for all the states you've lived in?

Type in your search engine..........unclaimed property "whichever state you want to look in" but don't use the quotation marks. Here is an example...........Unclaimed property Texas
