I don't have to cook this year.
My Sis and new Hubby are doing it.
I only have to do candied yams.

Gotta pick up a bottle of wine to take to our friends' house. That's it.

I have to cook my sweet potatoes for the casserole, will put it together tomorrow. Will cook up the stuffing, get that ready for tomorrow, will put together the wild rice casserole, making an orange jello with cool whip for the grandkids, they won't eat the rutabaga salad (my favorite). Then tomorrow AM early - like 3:00 AM, I will bake the pumpkin pie and Paula Deen's Bourbon Pecan Pie. Can't wait to taste that. Have to get the turkey in early - eating at 3:00 and Tom weighs 23 lbs. It is 4:30 AM and I think I best get my act together. Edie

Edie, I saw an episode where Paula made that pie and have the recipe, but totally forgot it!! Maybe for Christmas...let us know how it comes out!

I am contributing a pumpkin pie, 4-layer dessert, and broccoli salad. Have almost everything done now-will do the broccoli and bacon tomorrow so that both are crisp. I am traveling with my items to my mom's later today. I hope I don't forget anything!

Raised 3 turkeys since spring for this fall. They went to slaughter last week. Have the 30 pound bird defrosting, shopped today and baking 2 pies right now. I am so done for today. Happy Thanksgiving All

Reading all of this is making me hungry. My DH does Thanksgiving dinner and I do Noche Buena (Christmas Eve). We will be alone this Holiday - daughter cannot come - she lives in Oregon. More for us, our 4 cats, dog and birdies. But, we celebrated with my Mama, older sister, nieces and nephew last week. - Yup, I cooked.

I made our Thanksgiving dinner today. It was wonderful!
The meal was excellent, turkey was perfect, everyone was happy and we all ate more than our share.
My glass is 1/2 full.
I needed 45 minutes more 'oven time'. The turkey was out and the casserole dishes were ready to go in.
It had been cloudy and rainy all day. I was at the sink and thought 'the sun is glaring on the oven door glass.
How strange. THERE IS NO SUN!'
As I turned around I saw the heating element finish flaming. Went out like a candle on a cold dark night.
The phone rang, my daughter said "I am sorry we are going to be about an hour late".
My sweetie ran to the store, changed the heating element and the casseroles were coming out of the oven when my daughter arrived. What a wonderful day.
Tomorrow we go to his relatives for Thanksgiving #2.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. May you and yours be blessed.
