Sweetie, you're very innocent on the ways of the world. As a family member with a LOT of cops in it, we hear way more than the regular public about the way humans abuse the innocent and weak in their families. No wonder a lot of cops suffer from depression. And we're always being asked to donate to this or that family or person by our badge wearers, and this does not get into the news at all.

Grrrr, my son started staying away from home at 17 and i do wish some parents had sent him home. it would have relieved me of so much worry.

Joan how blessed you are. we have the some thing here. Our last daughter come in at 10:30 last night. We thought she was going to Tampa with her new BF.Instead she said that it would not be Christmas without Dad and I. BUT in return she called all of her friends and guess what. We have six girls in their 20's here. We have been cooking breakfast for 2 hours. We did the same as you did. Ask when they were going home. what a look we got. they all said at once "We are HOME".What a surprise.so we are having 6 girls.MY bathrooms are a mess. But who cares.I will clean after they leave.
Have a wonderful Christmas to you and all your family.

You must have a very loving home!

Obviously your house is so welcoming that all hearts gravitate there. Be thankful for that, not every house can be made into a true home.

Perhaps it would have been a wonderful gift to their parents for you to insist they go home. They are teens but you are the adult, therefore can see it would be more important they be with their family than yours. If they had no family, doubtful, then feel free to pat yourself on the back for being so welcoming. Don't get me wrong I also had numerous kids that thought I was the coolest but I didn't feel a need to be thought of that way. I had one ask to call me Mom, I told him no that he had a Mom. I would never want my kids to call someone else Mom. I always thought it was part of my job as my kids Mom to care about their friends, but my kids were and are my priority. I would never want to come between someone else's kids and their parents.

You are a blessing to these kids. Remember God put you in their lives, and them in your life. Cherish the love in your home. So many homes are not safe nor secure with love.
Hang in there you are making a postive difference in their lives. Hugs to you.

Merry Christmas

A House is just a house. But add the Love and then it is a HOME where everyone wants to come.Ours has been that way for a long time. These girls are our daughters friends. We have seen them grow from babies to young ladies.DH and I made them call all thier parents. Some are not for very good homes. All the parents know that if they are at our home they are all safe. Love this day.

I'm so glad your kids friends have a place they feel safe, welcomed and loved. Take it as a compliment and move on. Merry Christmas
