I've been trying for a 1/2hr to print page #2 of this pattern
http://www.stitch-n-frame.net/images/koolkatskwilt_.pdf

I have printed the 1st page several times but page #2 won't print.

Is it just me or is something wrong with page 2?

ptquilts 04-27-2011 10:24 AM

I find on a PDF the only way I can print is through the little printer icon (not File-Print or Ctrl P). Have you tried going to that page (2) and clicking on the icon.

AngieS 04-27-2011 10:30 AM

Love the pattern!!

Yes. I've clicked on File/Print, and Ctrl P, and also the print icon, etc. Every which way I could think of.
My printer makes sounds like it's setting itself up to do it but the printer icon disappears from the task bar.
I can't figure it out. I've printed PDFs a million times without trouble.

MTS 04-27-2011 10:36 AM

I just printed off page2 (ONLY page 2) and it came out right away and perfectly aligned. So it's not the file.

Did you try saving the .pdf to your hard drive and THEN printing?

Sandee 04-27-2011 10:41 AM

I've been having the same problem on many sites for PDF files. It even "loads" up with the blue line but then never opens. I'm going to see if my son can help with it. If I get any answers I'll post what I find out.

Yep....that too.

Barbm 04-27-2011 11:01 AM

I was looking for this pattern, hehe, thanks for saving me the time. It printed fine for me.

Hmmm.
PM your address if you want. I'll throw it in the mail to you.

So much for technological advancements.

Pretty funny actually. You gotta figure between the two of us we're surrounded by five grand worth of equipment. And the USPS is the only option.

ranger 04-27-2011 11:08 AM

I tried it. Printed page 2 only.......no trouble and it came out perfect.

QuiltE 04-27-2011 11:14 AM

Printed fine here ... this one has been on my want-to-do list for sometime!

Beat me to it and show me yours!!

AlwaysQuilting 04-27-2011 11:14 AM

GRRR....this is driving me crazy. Y'all can print page #2 but I can't? I've cleared the print queue, history, cache, cookies, again.
I've even sent it to myself in an email, clicked on the link and tried.
I've saved it to my hard drive and tried.
Why on earth would page #1 print but not page #2??
I've said every bad word I can think of today over this. :(

Thank you so much.
I'll keep trying and if I give up, I will PM you.
You're a peach!

:-) :-) :-) you're welcome....lol.

ptquilts 04-27-2011 11:22 AM

if we can't help you with the printing we can always send you some new bad words to use....

I use Mozilla Firefox for the quilting board. I get the same blue line for pdf's. I have to use Internet Explorer to open many pdf's.

I use Firefox too but I don't get a blue line.
I actually did get page 2 to print sort of, a minute ago, but it came out landscape (even though I have it set to Portrait), and it only printed about 1/2 of the info.
But now the printer is at least sucking the paper in for page 2 (that's an improvement), I can hear it whirring and setting itself up to print, then POOF...nothing happens.
The printer icon disappears again from the task bar.
I've had this pc for 2 years and have printed dozens of PDF files with no problems.
I don't know why page #2 would give me such a bad time.
But I'm going to figure it out or throw the printer against the wall!

QuiltE 04-27-2011 11:59 AM

It's probably sensitive to all those bad words you used today!! :)

When I am in a fit over computer things not working ... my best plan of attack is to usually close everything, re-boot and start again.

And you know what ... lots of time, that's all it takes!

Weirdness, I know!

I've done all that too.
I finally opened a blank Word document (see what bad words can make you think of?) and copied the text to it and printed it.
The graphics wouldn't copy but I can probably draw them (badly... but enough to get the idea).
Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
I'm going to have some chocolate!

QuiltE 04-27-2011 12:50 PM

Now that you have that accomplished ... please get to work and show us the real thing! :)

Janet My 04-28-2011 03:32 AM

Did you try going to Adobe and making sure you have the most recent version of the program?

I have that problem sometimes at work... we are not allowed to update programs when the computer asks us too...

Janet My 04-28-2011 03:36 AM

I was able to print it out... no problems at all.

AlwaysQuilting 04-28-2011 03:56 AM

I tried that too.
I've given up.
I've since printed a different PDF for something else and I had no problem at all.
It has to be something about Page 2 for this pattern and my pc.
A mystery.

jitkaau 04-28-2011 04:29 AM

Try saving it to the computer first and then printing?

Did you try throwing the PC against the wall? It might reset some unseen option you've unknowingly checked.

I like how you think!

QuilterChick 04-28-2011 05:29 AM

Do a "Control", "Print" and make sure you check off "print all", or go down and specify, Pages: 1-2 See if that works.

It came up on my screen as size of 130% .... change the size to 100%, and check all your printer settings in "preferences" or "options" depending on your operating system. I run Windows 7 .. had no problem at all printing the 2 pages.

???

Oh I had such high hopes for your directions (since my pc wasnt' telling me it was 130%) but it still didn't work.

But I did notice that the printer icon appears briefly in the taskbar while the printer is making noises but just before printing actually starts the printing queue says "deleting" and stops everything.

I've printed at least 20 pages (PDF and other things) since this all started yesterday and I don't have any problem except for this **** pg. 2. lol

I appreciate everyone's help but I guess it's just not going to work for me.

rannyof3 04-28-2011 06:18 AM

Can you "copy" the page, and paste it to Micro word, or whatever you have on your computer and then print it??

oldmountaincrafts 04-28-2011 06:26 AM

I was having problems with printing certain PDF's and it all started once I had installed some "new" updates through Microsoft and it changed some of my settings in Internet Explorer. Have you recently upgraded to the new IE9? If you have, uninstall it and it will take you back down to IE8. There are major problems with IE9 and it's compatibility with several programs. Microsoft is notoroious for wanting to get something NEW out there for the general public without testing it like it should and this is one of those cases.

PM me if you need anymore help and I can walk you throught some steps that might help because it will probably come up again in the future since not everyone out there that creates PDF's are using the same version of PDF maker through Adobe because its so expensive to upgrade anything Adobe related. I have been a computer tech/software tester for more than 20 years, so I don't mind trying to help out my fellow quilters when I can. Most of the time, the problems are an easy fix, you just need to narrow things down a bit and dig in to get to it!

Happy Thursday!!!

darleneerickson 04-28-2011 06:31 AM

I printed an extra copy - if you want me to snail mail it to me, let me know.

Sounds like it could be the browser.
When I run into this, I reopen/download the file from explorer... that usually solves the problem.

Hmmmm, I've been using Firefox. Maybe I should open IE and try it.
I'll let you know.
Thanks for the idea.
Edited---nope, didn't IE didn't work either.

Jammin' Jane 04-29-2011 12:15 AM

Mine printed fine, too.
I can scan it and email it to you.
PM me if you want it right away.

AlwaysQuilting 04-29-2011 12:24 AM

GOT IT!!!
After trying everything, even a diff. browser, I finally got it to print.
I clicked on "Print as Image" and it worked!

Thank you to all of you nice people for your suggestions and also to those who emailed me or offered to snail mail me a copy.
Y'all are so sweet.
I love this board!

Jammin' Jane 04-29-2011 12:58 AM

Don't you just love it when things finally work after trying so hard!
Your cat quilt is really cute! I'm glad mine printed out ok, too!
Have fun making it!

Aurora 04-29-2011 01:32 AM

No problem here. I print two sided and it prints page 2 first, then I put back in manually and print page 1.

Rainbow 04-30-2011 04:39 PM

On the PRINT page there is a "Print to file"...be sure that box is not checked....see if that solves the problem.
