Now that school is starting, I thought I'd give a lesson on tying shoes. Tie as normal EXCEPT when you go around your thumb, go TWICE. It takes some getting used to, but the results are worth it. Shoes do not come untied unless the ends are pulled or stepped on. This is much easier to untie than a double knot. Your children's teachers will thank you! Even round laces stay tied!

Thanks for the tip, Love a double knot until my five year old unties his shoes. Will try this afternoon when he comes home!
|
This tip is good for senior citizens too. I taught my 84 year old uncle. He thanked me many times because he only tied his shoes once a day and they were easy to untie before bed time.

Will have to try this... My shoes and dh are always coming untied.
|
LOL - oh the things I learn here! Love it!
|
Could've saved money - I bought flat laces because the rounds ones didn't stay tied!!

I use a knot that is used by most Russians to tie their shoes. It goes by many names; Seaman's Shoelace Knot, Double Slip Knot and, Ian's Secure Knot.
It has never failed me and is not all that difficult to teach kids. Here is a link to Ian's Secure Knot. Here is the start page so you can see all of Ian's shoe-tying knots. |
That is good to know. I will share this with my DDIL. My DGS is always untying his shoes! :D
|
Love that you can learn all kinds of things here
Wish I had known this when my kids were little  |
Thanks for the tip and I love your avatar Bargello. It's beautiful.
