Many thanks for all your responses to the flood information. I am including a link to the latest update. A man was clinging to a tree that got hit by a van whilst rescuers were trying to get to him. Miraculously, he managed to hang on - although very shaken, as this video will show. The flood is supposed to peak tomorrow morning at 6a.m. It has been reported that 75% of the state is under water and power will be cut off for safety reasons. Hope I am not distressing people too much, just want to inform .

Queensland covers a little under a quater of australia. I feel for all the poor people who live there, including friends I have there. Im so lucky, as my grandma just moved down to Victoria last year, from one of the flood affected areas, so I am very thankful.

lizzy 01-12-2011 02:51 AM

You are in our prayers for safety. Sorry to see all the misery that this flood is bringing to Australia.

Newaddict 01-12-2011 03:06 AM

Many of the quilters on this forum are from Queensland. Your fellow quilters from the rest of Australia feel for you. I'd like to offer accommodation to any who need it. We have a spare queen bed, single bed and double mattress, and you can even sleep in my quilting room! We are on a hill 16 kilometres south of Newcastle and we expect to be safe even when the floods reach down here.We can't begin to imagine what you are experiencing.
Are there any quilters who have stories about the floods to tell us?

wolfkitty 01-12-2011 03:39 AM
