That's how camping trips go here also. Wow, and I thought it was only mine who did that!!!

Camping trips for us have an already agreed upon set of rules. Don't ask me to do anything at the dumpstation, or unhook the 5th wheel, or pack the "basement" of the 5th wheel, or winterize, or fill water tank, or check maintenance on any part of camper. And I will not LET you decide what goes into the camper: food, clothing, bedding, etc. and I will haul it out there myself just to make sure it really gets loaded. I am willing to drive and even back into campsites or help him back into campsites. And I am the navigator, and planner. Am I a control nut? Perhaps. But I absolutely hate dumpstations.

This has worked very well for us for nearly 40 years.

Ok, your going to love this!! When he asked for an early dinner, I said sure. Got into the car went to Walmart to pick up some duck cloth and staples. Then stopped at Wendy's and picked up salads, not his favorite but mine. Then I disappeared into the office. When I came out I told him that he needed to buy a new computer table. Of course his reply was "Why, mine works just fine?" I replied "Well, actually you no longer have a computer table, I just spent the afternoon making it into an ironing station for my sewing room." I'll post pictures soon. Think it will work great, put 2 thickness of warm & natural covered with the canvas. Then on the keyboard slide, I put 4 thicknesses of w&n and covered it with the 1" grided pellon. I'm hoping it will work to stretch blocks that a tiny bit to small. I can sit to iron, and have a nice large surface. I'm happy, he is now hungry again (salad didn't last to long) and I said "Sorry, your the one who wanted an early dinner. How was the game? Walmart has some nice computer tables."

Still going shopping, need new fabric to iron on my new ironing table and really think a new iron would be nice also. I didn't think about a new iron until after I got home.

I'm not as mad as I was this morning, revenge is sweet and I have a new table. 5th wheel is clean, 17 loads of laundry done, and I know I will have a great time with the family. Guess I will keep him. We are going to Fish Lake, it is beautiful there. If you get a moment, look it up on the internet.

Thanks for being my sounding board. Love you all.

Hugs, Gail

Oh Gail,

You got off easy.....My husband had me running a gas powered post hole digger for two days, then pour concrete to set the posts.
17 loads of wash, 3 full loads in the dishwasher.....exactly how big is this 5th wheel? And is the 5th Calvary going along that you need all this stuff? Whatever happened to a sleeping bag, a pillow, long johns and a couple of changes of clothes? Oh and a tent.

Now think about this......If you go and charge several hundred on your credit card on top of all you have spent already preparing for this trip. Don't you realize this has to be paid for? Somehow or sometime soon.

Wouldn't it be easier just to dye his socks and briefs pink?

Don't you think you might be in the market for a new machine? Ha! At least a Featherweight for traveling!

Sheila Elaine 05-23-2010 05:42 PM

Listen, we traveled in a VW to camp all over Germany, Venice, Italy & Holland in 70's, when Ex was in Army. Every time he did the camp packing, but I packed the clothes like his Dad had showed me. His Dad was a Merchant Seaman & could get more clothes in one suit case than you could pick up. I did this for trips across the USA when we'd travel from the duty station back to see our folks here in Alabama. I couldn't go to bed until the house was spotless (after a long day at work at the office), dinner was fixed & they all head off to bed. When they would come to wake me up, they're all chipper & I'm lagging behind for lack of sleep from packing for all of them & cleaning. They'd all say leave it, but I coudn't stand the thought of leaving a dirty house, to have to come back to.

Tell your DH that remember you're the one who will pick his Nursing Home for him. That would be payback. Let's hope that doesn't happen. That's what my kids tell me.
