Virtually every website you visit will leave cookies on your computer. Cookies are not always either bad or good. The cookies from most sites are so you don't have to log in every time you go to the site.

It just happened again today although my virus / malware programs still can't find anything, so I guess since I never click on it, it's not really adding anything to my computer. . I've deleted history, cache, cookies daily. Just very annoying. I've used Google images alot over the years with no problem but I guess I'll have to find a different way to search images.

I'm not familiar with a Webroot scan -- what is it?
Also, is it a good idea to clear out the cookies, cache, and history on a daily basis? Guess I'm not in the habit of doing this as it's such a pain to always be looking up passwords. I should stop being lazy -- then maybe I wouldn't always get pop ups from Blinkx.

there is an "antivirus" ad that is so deep that it ruined the harddrive on the p.c. at work. even going thru norton/symantec and their "cure" several times, the virus continued to overwhelm the system, and eventually ruined it. even turning off the computer and stripping all the cookies didn't do the trick. one of the IT boys eventually tried a "scorched earth" approach, and couldn't fix it. it "finds" viruses on your computer, and "offers" to fix them. if you click on the "yes" button, it takes over. the one we had is called "antivirus 2010". do your best to just avoid it if you can--and the back button or a quick shutdown is the best response. (even if you pay for their antivirus sservice, it continues to eat your system. ) BEWARE!!

Best thing to do is a system restore. You don't lose your data, and it takes you back to a previous date on your computer when you didn't have the malware. Then you are able to do a complete scan and elimination of viruses as your operating systems are not compromised.I contracted one about 10 days ago that kept downloading each time I tried to click off the fake MS site.
Shut the computer off and open in safe mode to do the system restore etc.

I am very sad because I don't think I will get on the board anymore because when I puch the link that they send daily it gives me this message warning about the site being unsafe. I really enjoy this site but I had to call Micro Trend to help me get rid of a virus and ever since then when I try to get on the board I get this warning,

I don't click on a link to get here. I type www.quiltingboard.com into the address bar manually.
You might try that.
