Thank you for posting this...I did not know.

Thank you SO much. We use those in our boat when we go fishing way out on Lake Ontario. We always chuck the used ones in a bag. Fire is always bad but fiberglass boats are like torches and you can't run anywhere. Seems that we have been lucky for years, will definitely pass this on. It seems that there should be a warning somewhere on packaging. My heart goes out to that poor man who was just doing the right thing to protect his home ang family. So glad they are okay.

They can be used to start a fire by touching to steel wool. It was on one of those survival shows.
Great idea about the tape.

I am so glad that my husband already knew this, but I was not aware of the dangers. So many children's toys have nine volt batteries and this information needs to get out to parents. I am passing this along to my family and friends.
The firemen that visit the schools do a good job educating the students, and I am sure that they are getting the word out as they have the opportunity. Children listen to the firemen; they look up to them as their hero. God Bless them.

Thank you, I'll be passing this on to my family and friends.

I did babysitting in my home and one of the first things the children did was learn fire drills. It was so funny seeing these kids climb out the window but I was so proud of them for following directions. Biggest one helped them get out then second biggest brought them all to a safe spot. They did a super job. I didn't know about the batteries till watching this video. I'll have to check all mine to make sure all is well. Thank you for the information.
