I have the Maytag front loader and the matching dryer. I love them. They have all the features I could want including hand wash and delayed start on the washer. The dryer drys as fast as the washer washes.

We have always had good luck with Maytags.

I had an older Maytag for 25 years. I never had an trouble with it until one day, it decided not to work anymore. Too old to get parts so I just bought a simple mechanical Speed Queen washer and I am very happy with it. I don't need a computer in my machine and I just couldn't see paying the extra money for it. My Maytag did laundry for 6 kids for 25 years. I got my money's worth from it. I think the speed queen will be just as good. I follow the rule...the more stuff it has...the more that can go wrong. I just needed a simple machine and that is what I got.

I went to Sears and told them that I wanted the largest tub and the least number of cycles and NO pushbuttons or electronic panels....and got a huge Kenmore with only three cycles. Love it, Love it, Love it! (I mean, how many cycles do you really use???)

We had an old Magtag washer and dryer... It worked very well and did a good job for a long time.. then the tornado took everything and we bought an LG front load washer and dryer, plus the kit to make them stackable.. I love it.. It takes up half the room and yet they are full size machines.. On top of that it cleans the clothes very well and doesn't tangle everything up.. and there's more.. when the machine finishes it sings a little song instead of that awful blast of sound! I'm very happy.

There is a Whirlpool factory in Cleveland, Tenn., if they also make Maytag, how can they be made overseas?
Buy whatever will work for you.
I have a newer Maytag and am very happy with it.

Just had my 10+ year old Kenmore washer serviced last Friday. Was asking this very question to the serviceman. His answer was, Kenmore washers and dryers are now made by LG. And that they are very reliable (unlike when LG first started making appliances). However, the LG refrigerators, dishwashers and microwaves are not good at all. He said the front loaders are just fine, doesn't have that many more service calls than top loaders. (But IMHO, that is because most of the front loaders are fairly new and most of the top loaders are older.) He also said to stay away from the Samsung washers and dryers.

Whatever brand you buy - I suggest getting the good old simple washing machine - they are proven and less things to go wrong - I had friends and family buy those new big front loaders with all the buttons - seems like they spend more time with the repair than using them. I buy a good old top loader with a dial - they are cheaper, work great and usually don't go bad -no expensive electronics to replace either. Good luck..

I have had Kenmore, Whirlpool and Maytag.......I am not sure why but mine (any brand) only seems to last 5 - 7 years....No kids, Just me and my husband....So I don't know what brand I will buy again when the time rolls around again.
