getting cold by looking at these pics....brrrrr

QuiltingGrannie 01-29-2010 06:20 AM

They are calling for 4 inches up to 14 inches here over the next 24 hours! You can have the snow! ( and keep the ice).
Hope your power stays on and you have lots and lots of fabric so you can quilt!

Piedmont Quilter 01-29-2010 06:23 AM

It's headed our way too. Calling for 13+ snow in NC mountains, 6+ snow in foothills and ice in piedmont. You can guess from my screen name where I live. Would MUCH rather have the snow than ice!! Stay safe & warm.

Bailey's mom 01-29-2010 06:25 AM

Welcome to muy world!!!!
I do have to say though that the sun is shining today!!!Feels and looks so good!!!

montanaquilter 01-29-2010 06:29 AM

hope you don't loose your power like we did in our area last weekend. if you get more snow and ice just sit back and relax and quilt away!! beautiful pictures by the way!! I love snowy and icy pictures but I too: HATE THE SNOW AND ICE!!

Headed for us for sure this time, R. We have plenty of wood stacked up for the fire insert, and lots of soup to warm on top of it, also grill outside to cook of if we have to. It we get what they are calling for, will loose power for sure. I guess our trip to Statesville Saturday is off for sure   Also have blankets ready to seal off the Den , which is where we live when the power goes. Why can't we just get a few inches of snow???

I would MUCH rather have the snow. We have just a little wood, (used most of it the 2 weeks it stayed below freezing). If power goes, we have already discussed going to my dads (have gen. hooked to house) or even hooking small gen to our camper. It has gas heat and cooking and gen. will run everything.

You're right "C" ~ looks like the show will be off my plans.

beachlady 01-29-2010 08:23 AM

Ice is beautiful but not fun. Just finished putting in a whole house generator yesterday, so we will be all set if we loose power. It somes on automatically. Was quite pricey, but we have parrots and we are OLD so want to keep warm! LOL

(* packing now to move in with beachlady*) LOL

Naturalmama 01-29-2010 08:28 AM

That sure is beautiful - no fun to get around in though.
Funny how all you south of here are getting ice & snow - and up here in WI we haven't had snow for about a month! Plowing helps get us through the winter, so feel free to send some up this way!

JoyVoltenburg 01-29-2010 09:04 AM

Oh my. It's going to miss us here, thank goodness. Once in the mid-60s we had a big ice storm (I was a kid who got out of school for a week so it was fun) and a big one in the late 70s where there were some people without power for 3 weeks. Hope none of you have extended power outages. That's just not fun after the first hour.

Lisanne 01-29-2010 09:45 AM

It's gorgeous. It would be even more beautiful if there had already been snow on the ground. How I miss that kind of weather!

Marsye, you take great photos.

Marjpf 01-29-2010 09:50 AM

It is beautiful! But somehow I am glad that I am in Southern California and it will be 70 today.

Tink's Mom 01-29-2010 09:59 AM

Well, it has warmed up to 11degrees...we will get a bit of lake effect snow tonight and tomorrow...
Keep warm and safe, to all my friends in Tenn., NorthCarolina, and all the other areas that are going to be hit with this nasty storm...
Ninnie, you can always send Mortimer out for more wood....

reneebobby 01-29-2010 10:15 AM

hehehe Cleveland is looking pretty good right now. Just stay safe and warm.

Shemjo 01-29-2010 10:25 AM

Oh, I hate ice that knocks out power and makes it difficult to drive. Snow is much more forgiving.

Rose Hall 01-29-2010 10:58 AM

We are expecting the same system you have in AR right now tonight in VA. Predicting 7-12 inches of snow. hope to be out of school for a week. LOL

Rose Hall

amma 01-29-2010 05:14 PM

That looks like our ice storms
Stay warm and safe!!!

wvdek 01-29-2010 06:16 PM

Brrr. We are expecting 3-6 inches of snow here tom. Don't think we'll get it tho.
DS just called from Kentucky and he has maybe a half inch of snow, but ice underneath. Makes him a little jittery with his 18-wheeler and the ding-a-ling 4-wheelers. He's on his way to Alabama. Pray for safe trip.

2 Doods 01-29-2010 06:19 PM

Oh that's pretty! Weirdest winter here....last year no electricity for 6 days and several feet of snow. This year we had just a skiff at Christmas and lately it has been near 50 degrees. The gravel road is so muddy and so is my car!

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 06:22 PM

Sure is pretty!
I think I'll go out on my balcony with a fru-fru drink and watch the ocean waves.........

jacee kay 01-29-2010 06:28 PM

We didn't get any ice but have gotten 6 plus inches of snow today. It is supposd to end tonight.
I am verrry ready for summer!!!!!

I know how you feel!! We had an ice storm that started yesterday and ended today, but now it's snowing on top of all that ice. Haven't been outside since I made it home yesterday.

And MORE ice

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 07:39 PM

Dorothy of Kansas 01-29-2010 08:22 PM

The trees are beautiful and scary too. Is it really cold there too?

earthwalker 01-29-2010 09:07 PM

Well I'm sweating it out in sizzling Perth, and a fire warning...so I don't know what's worse! Stay safe everyone...and by the way those pictures are just stunning...Anyone see a quilt in them?

We got 4 in of snow last evening, and then the ice started, still coming down, nothing but ice pellets. On all the trees already, and the road is a solid sheet of ice in front of the house. Still have power, but don't know how long that will last.

Just snow last evening

NOw Ice is covering all the trees and laying on top of the snow

We had an ice storm Dec 2008. Lost electricity for 6 days. Got it back just before Christmas and lost it again Christmas day.

Melinda in Tulsa 01-30-2010 08:22 AM

I wish I could find the charger to my camara. We have that plus 6-7 inches of snow on top of that. I'm buying a bus ticket to the Bahama's.

wvdek 01-30-2010 09:20 AM

Well I'll be!

Woke up this morning to guess what? at least 6 inches of snow and still coming down.
Dh couldn't see driveway and had plowed prior to my getting out of bed but you wouldn't know it.
My turn to go out and plow as he has a 'bug' and is pooped.

I would rather have this than the ice, tho.

We got a little snow here but it's been sleeting for hours so when the temps drop tonight, the roads will be sheets of ice. Thankfully we don't have to go anywhere today or tomorrow.

oops 01-30-2010 10:26 AM

:-( Here in SC in my neck of woods we were lucky to get snow and sleet on top. NC half hour away got worse than we did. System has left our area. Now for the thaw.
Roads trecherous. Retired and happy to stay home
oops
