I feel so so bad about it now. Sigh. I do not know how to recover mentally from this. I just beat myself up so badly when I do things like this. Blech.

How do you all handle the upsets in your eating plan?

Do you ever just feel so disgusted when you goof up? I sure do.

Missy, this is why I find making a commitment to what I am going to eat prior to the meal is helpful. Plus, use your journal. If you find your journal shows you are getting hungry, or doing what I call "panic eating" at certain times of the day you may need to adjust what you are eating. Maybe have a strawberry smoothie prepared or another low cal comfort food prepared for those times.

Look for patterns in your journal. It has helped me.

I goof up all the time, but I have to look at it as my body is trying to tell me something. I am trying to look at why I want to eat. If I'm hungry, I'll think about "can I wait", if I'm lonely, I'll go on line, if it's anxiety, I'll clean house, if I'm bored I'll go on line or watch TV. At this phase going on line seems to help me, but I need to substitute another positive behavior for going on line. I should be quilting, :hunf: .

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is the answers are there, we just don't have them all yet. But we will.

I find the hardest person to forgive in life is myself. I need to afford the same consideration and empathy to me as I do to others.

Forgive yourself and today is a new day.

Thank you so much Carol! I think going back and looking at my food journal is a great idea. I am about to go out and do some shopping and when I get home I am going to look back and see if I can see any patterns.

This can't be one serving can it? It seems like a lot to have at one time not that I couldn't drink it all but............ I am definiately stopping for bananas on my way home

If I eat 2 bananas in 1 day I would be packing on the pounds not losing them. I was told that I shouldn't eat more than 1/2 of a small banana a day if I wanted to lose weight. That bananas are one of the worse fruits to eat if concerned with weight. To only eat them in moderation while dieting. Although they are loaded with potassium and other good things they are loaded with carbs.

An 8" banana has about 121 calories and 31g+ carbs. I hate them so I don't care. A 1/2 cp of strawberries only has 45 calories and 10g+ of carbs. Blackberries 1 cp 52 calories, and 13g carbs. Also look at cherries and other berries. Blueberries (which I also hate) are good for you.

There are a lot of things you could put into a smoothie. Instead of milk try whey and chipped ice, it's low in fat, 1 to 2gs and high in protein. (Only nonfat milk has no fat, the others are about 3 to 8g of fat.) If you eat a protein one to two hours before bed it helps keeps the blood sugar from spiking. (Which may help with the hunger.) So a whey, strawberry smoothie may be just the thing.

I felt a HUGE sweet craving last nite about 11pm so got up went to the fridge, considered having a piece (or 2) of the lemon pound cake that was in there but decided against it and had some delicious red grapes instead happy dance today :) :) Had an apple with some peanut butter for breakfast and a grilled chicken ceasar salad for lunch doing the weight watchers salad dressing trick. Allowed myself the croutons as that will be my only carb (bread) for the day.

Terryl,

That is wonderful! I am very proud of you. I also think your meals today sounded great. I ate at Applebees today for lunch with my mom. I ate the 7oz steak with asiago cheese and steamed veggies with a side salad. I did the dressing trick too (for the first time) and I hardly ate any dressing! Big surprise to me! Breakfast was a bowl of Special K with skim milk and for snack this afternoon I have had a 100 calorie fudgesicle (spelling??). Very yummy. Dinner will be some protein. Maybe a grilled cheese. Not sure yet. I am still full from lunch and snack. I did drink a huge glass of unsweetened tea before my meal so I would not eat as much and it really helped I think.

Oh, I also just got home from buying me one of those plates like Gwyn suggested. It is very cute and very sturdy and I only paid 8 dollars for it. I will definitely get my money out of it! :D

You guys really are wonderful. I am so lucky and blessed to "know" all of you.

Missy

Gwyn, what are you talking about? I must have missed this chat. I do, however, agree with you. Nothing is worse than someone berating you---been there and it hurts. Thanks
