I have been having the weirdest reams lately. the last one was the phone company was bringing back dial phones. Everyone was flocking to get theirs. BUT they weren't real phones. They were these little sock monkey things with elephant noses that you hooked up to a wire. Then the dial part was paper and broke right away. I told you it was weird! another involved me and dh and youngest dd in some weird mall elevators.....anyone that knows me would just fall over in shock to learn I was in a mall! and I've been oversleeping to have these dreams. Makes me almost afraid to sleep!

NCquilter 01-13-2011 06:49 AM

That is strange, but the sock monkey telephone sounds pretty funny!

Murphy 01-13-2011 06:50 AM

Dreams are actually a good thing. It is a way we can safely let out something that is on our mind. Don't be afraid to sleep. Embrace the dream and look at what it is trying to tell you.

raptureready 01-13-2011 06:52 AM

Quit smoking that stuff!!!!

Just kidding. Sometimes we all seem to have some wierd dreams. Have you had a change in medications lately? If so you might want to contact your doctor.

Ditter43 01-13-2011 06:54 AM

That is funny.....I go through spells where I have very strange dreams in the morning. I have even gotten up to go to the bathroom, went back to bed and back into the same dream!! A few times I have gotten up and told my DH the convoluted dream. Sometimes it sticks in my mind for hours before it fades away!

missgigglewings 01-13-2011 06:59 AM

I think it is something in the air because my dreams lately have been bizarre! Maybe Al Gore was right about global warming!

Not on any medications except some herbs and no change in them. And if I had something to smoke I might be tempted to try it to see if it helped lol!
As far as I can tell these are happening in the mornings just after dh leaves. He leaves about 5:30 and normally I'm up by 7. the last few days though its been 8 or even 9 before I wake up and they are very vivid detailed dreams. The funny thing is we haven't had a land line in over a year. I haven't eaten anything before bed either......

hobo2000 01-13-2011 07:10 AM

Barometric pressure can stimulate deep sleep which leads to dreams and look at the crazy weather we're having. Could clear up when pressure normalizes, if it does.

dpparris 01-13-2011 07:14 AM

Dial-Up phones would be a NIGHTMARE!!!!! Sorry you are having these dreams.

Years ago I dreamed my yard was covered in cows and I could not get out of my house. I live in the city so this would be very weird. LOL makes for some good laughs.

nativetexan 01-13-2011 08:07 AM

glad no one asked what are dial up phones?? i remember those. messed up fingernails.

0tis 01-13-2011 08:58 AM

I have weird dreams too - I think mine got really weird after I had my hysterectomy and started on estrogen. At least thats my story and I am sticking to it....

raptureready 01-13-2011 09:00 AM

If I get awakened then go back to sleep I have crazy dreams too. Perhaps that's what you're doing. The mind gets activated before the body's ready to kick in so when you go back to sleep the mind does a "cruising through the crazies" for a while.

roflol! I could definitely be telling my age couldn't I?

sueisallaboutquilts 01-13-2011 11:01 AM

I have had vivid dreams my whole life. I agree with Murphy that they are good for us.
Just last week one of my sons told me he writes his down every morning as soon as he wakes up b/c he's looking for a pattern that may come to light.
Some of mine make sense and some don't. My hubby never remembers his but I always do, at least I remember a lot of them. I wish there were experts who could help me with them.
I find dreams fascinating.

Ramona Byrd 01-13-2011 11:07 AM

From a small child living on a hard scrabble farm, I've had the same dream, of living in a big Victorian house. Never saw the outside of it, but I know the inside of it very well. A few weeks after my Number two sister died, I dreamed that she had moved into MY house and took me to show off the new drapes for the dining room she'd made. After that I didn't grieve for her so much, I knew that after her long battle with leukemia she was finally at rest. Never dreamed about her again, but what is odd, the dining room drapes she told me she made stayed the same.

I agree...but I sure hope that telephones don't come back as sock monkeys. LOL.

hperttula123 01-13-2011 04:53 PM

I used to have really strange dreams all the time. I don't remember them anymore....maybe one or two a year. I don't think I sleep right, I always have a hard time waking up and can sleep through an alarm clock going off right next to my head. I'd rather have your dreams!!!!!

mommamac 01-13-2011 05:35 PM

Mall
To dream that you are at the mall, represents your attempts in making a favorable impression on someone. You are trying to establish your identity and sense of self. The mall is also symbolic of materialism and the need to keep up with the trends, fads, and/or the latest technology.

Telephone - problem communicating or avoiding someone?

Usually I just dream about silly stuff, but I've had some doozies lately!

For example, couple of days ago I dreamed that I was with a group of people ... adult students, perhaps. We were taking some kind of test, but it wasn't an ordinary test. It was more like an I.Q. test. A handful of people passed, including me (somehow! LOL!). But the test wasn't what it appeared to be. We were being tested to see if we had unusual abilities (?), and those who passed were soon to be "guinea pigs" of some kind of terrible scientific experiments!

I, and a few of the others, managed to escape, and we were running, with gun-carrying guards right on our heels. I managed to elude them for a few minutes, and then I saw my mother's husband (whom I don't care for, even in real life) waiting with a car. Yes!!! But instead of helping me escape, he betrayed me, and helped them catch me again!

Somehow I once again managed to escape, and was running as fast as I could ...

... and that's when I woke up, adrenaline-hyped and a little freaked out!

If I do have some kind of unusual abilities, I sure would like to know about it! ROFL!

ginnie6 01-14-2011 04:42 AM

well I know who I am....and I like her! I'm not trendy. I couldn't begin to tell you what is in style.....I can tell you what's comfortable though. It could be technology.....dh and I were talking about things earlier and one of my dreams has always been to live in Montana....where its wild and rugged. He said it wouldn't matter...there were satelites that could focus in on anyone, anywhere. That's the night I dreamed about the mall. The phone one......my mother and I have been estranged for years. I wish it could be different but have accepted that it probably never will be. I've also had an ex boyfriend almost stalking me.....from 25 years ago!

ptquilts 01-14-2011 05:27 AM

I have weird dreams too - once I dreamed I had invented a coin-operated goldfish vending machine.

Too funny!! I had a weird dream last week too. My neighbor across the street is a widower; his wife & I sewed together, she got me into quilting. Anyway, he & I go out to dinner together occasionally. I get his mail when he goes hunting, he snowblows my driveway. Anyhow....back to the dream....I dreamt that he ane I got married and couldn't agree on which house to move into and how to tell our kids we were married. When I woke up I couldn't decide if it was a dream or a nightmare

I have weird dreams too and I also write the weirdest ones down. (If I remember them when I wake up.)

Your dream made me cry,I'm sure it made you feel good to think she is in the house you love and you don't have to worry about her any more.

So do I. It's an old one from my MIL and could be almost 100 years old but still works. It plugs into a 4 hole phone jack, which this old house has in one room and I have an adapter for the front room when I want to show off and call it with my cell when I have company. Works nicely. I have far too many things "just in case" around here.

nena 01-14-2011 09:14 AM

It seems that the weirdest dreams are the ones we dream when we go back to sleep in the morning. Place a note pad by your bed and as soon as you wake up write it down so you do not forget it. Watch and see what happens. Sometimes dreams have meanings.

I don't think I have to worry about that. He is very nice, but chews tobacco; grosses me out. He isn't too crazy about my dogs; that is a deal breaker.

Mickie612 01-14-2011 10:51 AM

I had to laugh about the phone. A bunch of us were just talking about sock monkeys the other day. By the way we still have a dial phone , it is in my sewing room, these new long numbers are a pain to dial.

Yeah, Nena, that's what my son is doing. We just happened to talk about that a couple of weeks ago :D

Heezmyhope 01-14-2011 02:36 PM

Dreams definately having meanings...and varied at that. Sometimes dreams are a reflection of things we are struggling with and sometimes they are warnings....etc... In this case I think maybe this is a precusor of things to come... The world we are living in today is not the same as even 10 years ago...before 9/11. After 9/11 we went into a fast track of change...most not good. In your first dream nothing was as it was supposed to be...everything was jumbled and fell apart...this sounds like deception to me in that you think you are getting one thing and find out it's something else...the model of the phone outdated by many years...seems to represent things going back to how they were many years ago...only in this case even trying to go back doesn't work, as the phone falls apart.

The second dream takes place in a mall...and you say that you normally would not go to a mall...makes me think that you may have many changes coming into your life that will be uncomfortable...pushing you outside of your comfort zone...

craftymatt2 01-14-2011 05:08 PM

OK, i don't mean to scare anyone, but I kept having the same dream over and over again, I couldn't sleep, I was at my aunts house with my siblings and cousins while my aunt and mother shopped, my aunt live in a two flat and her apt. was on the second floor, this man came up and asked for me by name, I was four or five at the time, he just smiles and says to tell my mom he was here. I told this story to my dad over the phone, he wouldn't say anything but called me back a few weeks later and asked if I was still having the same dream, I said I was. He told me what it meant. My dad had taken my siblings and I and left my mom, she ws never home, and always cheating on my dad, didn't want anything to do with us kids. Now for the heart puncher, the dream was about a man that my mom sent to kill me. I was in my thirties when I found this out. This man was to tke me and kill me, not my siblings, just me. He went to the police. As far as I know nothing was ever done to her, never will I have anything to do with her, and she will never know her great-grand kids. I verified this story with other relatives, so it is very true, and now I'm 58 and still in therapy. Sometimes are dreams are trying to tell us something. Unfortunatley for me, it was very bad news. I hope she rots in hell.

Oh I thought I was the only one! I've woken up, thought "that was a really weird dream", then fallen back asleep....into the same one again, too. Glad to have company!

So sorry for your loss, but I find it very comforting that she was able to send you a message.

You are not alone, was on the board the other night till 12 pm, Got up and went to bed starting to dream. Frank Sinatra came to my home with some of his tough buddies. He was angry, said I owed him money. Looked and saw all my quilts he and his buddies started throwing the quilts over their shoulders and said that they would take them in lieu of the money I owed. They started for the door and I ran after them screaming "don't take my quilts don't take my quilts! As God is my witness not even I could make this up! I woke up from the nightmare and was laughing in bed!! Way too muxh time spent here hehehe

Yes dreams do bring messages to us I know for a fact, I'm so sorry that you had to find out about your past in that way.
Did you ever find out why she just wanted you to be killed and not any of the rest of her Children?? That is what I would have wanted a answer to if I had been in your shoes, Why just you.
