I'm not in TX,OK, or other states where the main heat bubble and drought is, but it's also been plenty hot here this summer (lots of 100 degrees, or above, days) and with high humidity.
So what do I wear again today? Another sleeveless top. (Flabby upper arms be da**ed). I went out to get my mail at noon and I'm almost chilly. No humidity, temp is 88, and its cloudy from the storms in the area. My windows are open and a/c is off. First time in ages.
I hope all of you in the extremely hot areas of the US get some relief like this soon.

Cyn 08-03-2011 09:31 AM

What I wouldn't give for a break in the hot wether :) Enjoy!

jljack 08-03-2011 09:32 AM

Lucky you....we'll be at 103 today. But back into the 90s by end of week. We also have low humidity, so not as bad as where the heat index goes up to 110 because of high humidity.

amma 08-03-2011 09:33 AM

So many areas are cooking and we are finally getting our normal warm temps for summer...we never thought we would finally hit 80 LOL

linz83 08-03-2011 09:35 AM

It has been low 80's in my part of Oregon the last few weeks. I cant decide if I love it or hate it.
If it was hotter I would be misirable and couldnt go out.
But then again it IS summer and its too cold at the lake and chilly in the evenings and that all seems wrong.

what can you do

cmagee84 08-03-2011 09:36 AM

I am certainly ready for some relief from this heat!!! I know it is worse in other places, so I should not complain.

Painiacs 08-03-2011 09:38 AM

In the 80's here with 100% humidity! More heat and humidity than we r used to!!

jean1941 08-03-2011 09:38 AM

I have a couple friends near Austin, TX and they're sooooo sick of the heat. Their grass is fried, trees are stressed. They just are begging for some rain to cool things off and clean the air.
Try to stay cool.

alikat110 08-03-2011 09:50 AM

Hi today....109!!!!!!

nativetexan 08-03-2011 10:27 AM

butterflies5518 08-03-2011 10:29 AM

Miserable in Houston - hot, humid and allergies are terrible.

Carron 08-03-2011 10:29 AM

Today is at least this morning really nice....84 and no humidity. Actually feels nice compared to the other days.

jdiane318 08-03-2011 10:34 AM

It has been so hot here that the local food bank I volunteer at changed their hours and now close by 3p, last appointment is 2:30p. The warehouse stays about 85º and that is with the fan blowing. The sorting room hasn't had many volunteers show up to sort, due to the heat, too. I can't remember a more miserable summer in my lifetime and I found out the reason why. The last time weather was this bad was 1954, I was born in '55.

mom-6 08-03-2011 10:45 AM

Yesterday evening I got in my truck to run an errand and it said 106! That's just too hot for 7 o'clock in the evening.
Now I know why my AC was struggling. By 10 it had cooled off to mid 80s which was nice. Only 97 right now but supposed to hit 103 with a heat index of 110 both today and tomorrow.

emerald46 08-03-2011 10:51 AM

Okay, you cool folks get outside and blow that cool air our way! Plus send a little rain if you have extra!

blueangel 08-03-2011 01:20 PM

104 today. One of the cooler days.

watterstide 08-04-2011 03:06 AM

here in michigan we have had a record breaking july for heat.the humidity is so nasty, my JRT got out the front door..and took off,was back in 10 minutes..too hot for him too!
our schools don't have air conditioning..i feel bad for the teachers and kids when they start back.

i know it is worse all over the country..

when my son was in bagdad, it was 114 in the day and 80 at night, he was freezing too! so i sent him a quilt!

And we are under heat warnings until Friday at least! Pretty bad when we are all hoping for a hurricane (but just a small one with no wind damage, please! LOL)

sarahconner 08-04-2011 04:24 AM

Dean 08-04-2011 05:07 AM

When my GD left school yesterday it was 110, low last night was to only be 84, heat index 118.

suzm 08-04-2011 06:02 AM

Quite hot here, another day over a 100. It's been this way for over a month now.

cbridges22 08-04-2011 06:08 AM

WE are going to be in the upper 70's today. As much as I wish it were warmer I sure as heck don't miss the heat from Texas where I grew up.We are thinking about where we want to retire and have always thought back in the south where we are from. But after watching the weather this summer we are rethinking it.After so many years out of the heat I don't want to go back to it.

grannypat7925 08-04-2011 06:10 AM

Would like to see that here. It is a few degrees cooler but humidity is 94% today.

MYWR 08-04-2011 06:17 AM

One of the reasons I left TX after 20 years was the heat !! And here I am in TN and it reached 102 with major humidity yesterday - I can't handle this - even the A/C doesn't keep up. . . maybe it is time to move north - but it is hot there this year too . . . crazy

Try the Pacific Northwest,it really has not been hot here for the 4 years I have been here.It got up to the low 90's a couple years ago for 4-5 days. But you have winter to contend with.It is not all that cold but it is grey. You can go months with out sun, just grey overcast drizzle which gets to you mentally pretty quick if you are use to sun.We all live on Vit D and tanning beds for light therapy.

catmcclure 08-04-2011 06:37 AM

We moved from AZ to the area near San Francisco a couple of months ago. It's about 115 where we used to live. Here in SF we haven't had the air conditioner on this year. We have, however, had the heat on. It's nice here, but the morning temperatures (because of the offshore breezes) are in the 50-60's and daytime doesn't get very hot.

Gigi07 08-04-2011 06:42 AM

I was at a retreat the past 4 days in the mountains. The temp was in the low 80's, such a nice break and came back to the HOT HUMID 100's... maybe we need a month long quilting retreat?

mhansen6 08-04-2011 06:52 AM

I am so sorry for those of you who are having such hot weather. I keep praying for rain for you guys.

Here in Central Oregon the weather has been just about perfect. Clear cool nights, in the upper 40's, and warm beautiful days, in the 80's. It took awhile to get here, but it sure is nice now.

marciacp 08-04-2011 07:02 AM

As all the Texans have said - it is literally burning up.
I, along with many others, have been seriously
praying for rain and for this horrible ridge of high
pressure that has camped on top of us for going on
two months to move. Like others have said, yesterday
was 109 and today about the same. There seems to
be no foreseeable change for the next several weeks
unless God Himself does something. I really feel for
those of you that are in areas where it is usually not
hot like this. I know you are not used to it and it
must be really difficult. We are used to it, but this
summer is the worse one in my recollection. Over 100
for going on two months and not one drop of rain!

Abby'smom 08-04-2011 07:15 AM

I am in TX -- used to be an area of semi-swamps (45 in. of so of rain per year) -- but we are going through a cycle of less rain, but this is ridiculous: I'm watching the tropics hoping for something to come this way in the Gulf -- lol -- and I'm spending a lot of time watering my flowerbeds and yard (we are still on voluntary water rationing -- but for how long?) -- enjoy your cool weather!

its 105 in the sun but not to get above 85today here. I have the air on because I'm sweating from running up and down the basement stairs washing humming bird feeders and filling them.

lenette 08-04-2011 07:32 AM

I'm in Michigan and went out to find it just a bit chilly at 70 degrees, too. Quite an enjoyable change from the heat and humidity. I really hadn't been able to get the house comfortable for me even with air conditioning and fans on me.

All I'm asking for is perfect weather! How hard it that?

Kairos Dan 08-04-2011 08:20 AM

I know what you mean, I felt chilly when I went out to get the morning paper (S. Indiana)

grandma sue 08-04-2011 08:44 AM

Here in OK it has been extremely hot (112 the other day - most days at least 104). Anyway, I was talking to my son about it. He said well, just think mom, when I was in Iraq, it was 130 temp and we were carrying/wearing 50 lbs. of gear. That humbled me. I remember thinking of him over there and how miserable he must be. So when I get to feeling gripy about the heat, I think of our soldiers who are over there, no AC, no cold water most of the time, and wearing all that gear.

Melinda in Tulsa 08-04-2011 09:59 AM

As most of you know, Oklahoma is baking. So far it has been the hottest summer on record. Monday, as I went to the Vet, the time/temp sign registered 116 degrees and then my DH and I went to Golden Corral for supper, got back in the truck and my thermometer registered 119 degrees, at 6:15 in the evening. BTW...all our *official readings are taken in the shade*.

Today it is supposed to reach a high of 110 but right now, it is only 93 degrees!!!! A wonderfully perfect summertime day! Our normal is 94. I hope it stays like this but I know it won't.

Alondra 08-04-2011 11:04 AM

Ah, yes... I remember 88... well, I ALMOST remember 88, but it was a long time ago. <G> Temperature here: hot and hotter. No relief in sight. And my daughter in Florida tells me it's been raining every day there. Where's the justice???

katydidit 08-04-2011 11:55 AM

Lucky you. It's 115º on my porch in the shade. Supposed to get down to 102º by the weekend. Woo-hoo!!

willis.debra 08-04-2011 12:49 PM
