I bought six tickets from Kansas City for my grand-daughter and family to San Francisco for Christmas with me and others closer in the family. This way I can see the four great grandsons for it's hard for me to travel anymore.

I got a new flat screen TV for the sewing room on Cyber Monday and I bought a bunch of yarn and I'm not even going to open and look at it till Christmas. My DH will be so excited to see what he bought me!

Try overstock.com they don't have a huge selection but they do have good prices. Also try amazon the prices are not as good as overstock but that have a very large selection.

I've never considered buying myself a gift, but after reading all these posts, I think I need to buy something for myself! Oh wait, I used some golf winnings to buy myself a new golf shirt. Does that count?

Stitchnripper 12-11-2014 03:43 PM

I buy myself whatever I want whenever I want it. But, I don't normally want very much. I don't keep a stash, so it wouldn't be fabric anyway. If I came across an interesting vintage machine, that would be nice.

I bought my DS and DDIL tickets to fly here. We haven't spent a Christmas with them for four years..this would have been the fifth! They've never seen our new home. The time will fly by, but it will so worth it! :-)

My Husband and I bought a new king size mattress and box springs and a new TV. So that is it for a while. We just slept in the new bed for two nights and what a difference. Old TV had spots coming on it for a long time and then all of a sudden it got quilting grids on it when you turned it on. You had to turn it off and then on again and the quilting grids would be gone.

Wilquilter 12-11-2014 08:04 PM

How about a babylock destiny?

rjwilder 12-11-2014 08:37 PM

I bought myself a Babylock Ovation Serger, hubby got a 70" LED television. Last Year I bought myself a Babylock 10 needle embroidery machine and hubby told me it was my gift for the next few years. Yea right! He got golf clubs, I think I got the better deal. We pay cash for everything and are able to get good deals. We are retired and earned money that we now enjoy spending on our hobbies and charity work.

toverly 12-12-2014 06:32 AM

I bought myself a Quilting Retreat in January. Marti Michele will be there, so I also purchased her new book and templates for the retreat. Of course, that may mean fabric too!

huntannette 12-12-2014 06:41 AM

Don`t want to spend lots...saving up to spend two weeks in Florida in March....with the weather we are having it is going to be extra special...already have more than two feet of snow and the temp is below -20 degree C at night....brrrrr.........

Sewnoma 12-12-2014 07:00 AM

DH gave me an early gift this year - he found a Singer Rocketeer for me! It didn't come with any feet, cams or the manual and he won't be buying those things for me, so now I'm spooking around in local thrift & charity shops hunting for treasure. I know I could find these things on eBay much quicker but I don't like eBay and I'm really enjoying the hunt. I love thrift/charity shops, you just never know what treasures you'll find! Funny thing is that before this I was looking for bits for my 99K and not finding anything...now that I'm hunting for Rocketeer accessories I'm finding all sorts of stuff for my 99K! I got a zigzagger, a buttonholer, and a box of feet for $20 (2 different shops).

sharin'Sharon 12-12-2014 09:18 AM

I bought myself a 17" rotating self-healing rotary mat from Craftsy on Cyber Monday. Free Shipping, too. It stumped my husband when it came shipped in a big square box!!! Anxious to use it. Merry Christmas to all.

pennycandy 12-12-2014 04:09 PM

Fabric but not for quilting, enough linen to make 3-4 pairs of summer pants. I'm waiting for my color to go on sale at Fabric-store.com. I keep waffling on buying a walking foot.

We usually agree on one big item we would like - but this year I did step out and get a 10" Tablet that I can also take up to my sewing room and watch sewing videos on or to the kitchen for cooking videos and recipes - and don't need to take the lap top everywhere unless there is something else I need.

new winter boots! my old ones were about 5-6 years old, and getting tired. i'll use them for snowplowing, etc. now i have nice new ones for "good". (my only "cybermonday" purchase, from my favorite shoe lady, who owns and runs Sven's clogs: clearance, plus an extra 20% off. the best things in life are half off...) books, too--i love finding the ones i want on amazon for 1 cent, plus shipping. ditto with music--CDs, used, for a little change, plus shipping. hubby and i are old enough that the only things we "need" are essentials. we are blessed beyond belief. our wedding anniversary is christmas eve, so our celebration is "ours", no matter how many others are there. we have reached 46 years, this year. we are both amazed--it doesn't seem that long. because of his health issues, every day is a gift to each other.

newbee3 12-12-2014 08:38 PM

I got a needle advance for my longarm, a spare bobbin case also for the longarm. Got a new hat for me and gloves

Teddybear Lady 12-12-2014 11:03 PM

I told my husband I would like to have a rotating cutting mat for Christmas. I showed him the one at Hancock's here in town and it was $52.00. He said okay. I told him to let me check at Walmart. I got it yesterday for $25.00. I was singing "Merry Christmas to me" through the store with him. haha It's a Fiskars 14" X 14" self-healing. I'm happy. I like practical gifts. A couple of years ago I asked for a manual can opener. He bought me an Oneida stainless steel one and I was so happy. I'm very low maintenance. haha

I was very fortunate this past week. A dear friend of mine had a double masectomy almost 2 years ago and her husband bought her an accuquilt go die cutter so that she could maybe do some quilting while she recovered. And they bought a bundle of different dies. Well she never used it and so it just sat in her closet. I had mentioned to her a couple of weeks ago that I was going to dig out all of my scrap fabrics and cut them into useable sizes and toss what couldnt be salvaged in the trash. She then told me that she has one with dies and is going to send it to me for Christmas!!! It came this week and I have had so much fun playing with it and using up tons of scraps. :)) My daughter is making a clam shell quilt and started cutting out clam shell peices of fabric and I bought a die for the 4 inch clam shell die for $15.99 and Ill cut them out for her unless she wants to do it. ;)

My halogen lamp died so went to Joann's and they had Ott lights on sale. The standing one was regular $249.99 but got it for $89. and the table one was $99 and got it for 43.99 plus discounts! Giving DH money. We really don't need anything as we are truly blessed.

This may sound dumb to some of you but all I ever wanted was a loving husband and my son. I have that now. I also live in my dream home, a condo I wanted since I was about 13-14. I also have a great cat. I've got it all.

Doesn't sound dumb at all, quite wonderful actually.

That was my me gift 2 yea ago for that reason....recipes and quilting......a traveling encyclopedia........

This year my me gift....I went to an estate sale about two weeks ago and saw what I have wanted for a long time.......and the price was unbelievable low!--- less than $100.... A grandfather clock.......now I can hear those Westminster chimes each hour all day long...and he goes to "sleep" at the 9pm hour and wakes at 6am.......when GKs visit, they count the hour by the "bongs".......

ILoveToQuilt 12-17-2014 03:58 PM

A tank of kerosene to replace the 250 gallons that was stolen (siphoned) out of my tank by some jerk! I am out almost $800 because of this theft! Nope, no other gifts this year...no money for them. Oh well...at least we'll be warm in the new year. (Yes, police report filed - home owner deductible too high to file claim - looking for security solutions to make sure it doesn't happen again...I think we have all bases covered at this point).

A nice, pain-free hand, I hope! I'm having tendon interpositional arthroplasty on Dec. 29th, and will probably have the other hand done next year if this works as well as I hope it will! It's done for arthritis of the basal joint of the thumb, which causes all kinds of problems.

Barbshobbies 12-18-2014 06:05 PM

I like my old stuff the best, but hubby gives me money, so I can buy what I want when I see it. Just heard a family needs help... Mom died a few months ago of cancer, 16 teen year old boy had a car accident,, a week ago and now the house burned down. I will be the happiest to add to the collection drive, I`m sure I can give one of my quilts, embroider dish towels rag rug carpets and money!
