I'm curious to know what countries we are all from.

Please reply even if your country is already mentioned. It will also be interesting to see how many quilters are from each country.

Oh, and what season of the year you are currently in, say the month you are replying this...

I will start............ USA ... Spring (May)

quiltbugs 05-09-2009 10:27 AM

Pittsburgh, PA, USA, a beautiful spring day and my peonies and hostas have burst through once again, my roses are climbing their trellises and arbors, my daylillies are showing their early lime green foliage and the dandelions have taken over the yard. My azaleas are brilliant pink and purple bushes, and all the rain we have had has blessed me with a beautiful colorul garden again this year. I just love spring.

humbird 05-09-2009 10:39 AM

North Central Texas, USA where we are water logged and more on the way. Both yards were lakes about 3AM.

MsSage 05-09-2009 12:51 PM

Texas ( yes they think its their own country LOL) Its spring here in the panhandle....windy, HOT 93 (yesterday), windy, dry and did I mention the wind?

I now know what they use to talk about the wind driving some women crazy. It blows ALL the time and you only notice it when it gets above 35 mph (not gusts) , when it rocks your tractor then you say its windy. :?

Butterflyspain 05-09-2009 12:57 PM

Well I am originally from Scotland, now living in Spain for the last 5 years and we are just going into Verano ....Summer Hooray

But, Msage, think how much hotter it would be without that windy old wind.

MadQuilter 05-09-2009 01:17 PM

Originally Germany, but now California and it's a toasty late spring.

sunnyhope 05-09-2009 01:31 PM

isnt May late spring, early summer kinda

quiltswithdogs 05-09-2009 01:34 PM

I wasn't asking the month because I'm silly; I know it is May all over the world right now. I was anticipating more answers in the future... or at least hoping. I also know Australia is always on the opposite season as us in US, so I wondered who else is on summer vacation or going snow skiing, that sort of thing. Just interesting.

I don't know how to do that cut and paste idea. It's ok except I like looking at our names on the left when I read.

Spring has sprung here in Anchorage, Alaska. Although the bulbs are just starting to pop out of the ground it's a little early for us to plant. They say here it's safe to plant outside after May 31st. or when the birch tree leaves are as big as a squirrels ear. My problem is I can't catch the darn squirrel to hold it up to the tree! :D

Born & raised in Southern Idaho. Currently live 50 miles from where I was born. Really went far, didn't I?
Have traveled to Calif-Oregon-Washington St.-Nevada-Wyoming-Colorado-Nebraska- Indiana-Illinois-Michigan-Texas-Lousiana-Utah.

Must say that the Good Old USofA is a wonderful place to be.

Machel 05-09-2009 01:58 PM

USA Virginia, late spring. Peonies and roses already blooming. Peas, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, squash, and beans sprouting out of the ground. 89 today.

appliquequiltdesigns 05-09-2009 02:28 PM

Southern California, USA - Spring

Shemjo 05-09-2009 02:53 PM

Missouri in the middle of the US of A! My Rhododendrons are lush with booms. MY peonies are not in flower yet, but those in the full sun are beautiful! My Clematis are blooming, and I just got the front lawn mowed, so it looks pretty good right now! So I guess we are in full Spring!

Rose Marie 05-09-2009 03:52 PM

USA, Phoenix AZ. May 8th and over 100 degrees outside.

MollieSue 05-09-2009 03:59 PM

Michigan, USA where it's still a bit nippy, high of 55 today. But is suppose to be back in the 70s in a couple of days. :D My Lilacs are blooming now, our Cherry, Peach, Plum, Necterine, and Apple just finished blooming. We've only had to mow once so far. No vegies planted yet, still a bit of a chance of night freezing.

BarbS 05-09-2009 04:24 PM

Manitoba Canada......supposed to be spring......but it was snowing this morning. Turned out to be not too bad of a day though.....just a little on the cool side for this time of year.

Started out warm and humid this morning, cool and rainy this evening.
All the trees are leafing out, and the grass is green. Tulips are blooming, the magnolias are just finishing, the hostas are about 7inches tall.

Southern California - May - warm spring day

TeresaP 05-09-2009 05:43 PM

Well I'm in Newcastle (sort of) Australia, where it's wet, about 16 degrees C. I have blooming azaleas (weird) the camellias (sasanquas) are blooming with the japonicas about to burst into bloom.

In the veggie garden, the beans are about finished, the zucchinis are still going. I have a few rogue tomatoes, that are fruiting but not yet (if ever) ripening.

Oh yes that's right - it's Autumn, or fall if you prefer.

quiltinggrandmaca 05-09-2009 06:31 PM

Manitoba, Canada as well. Really cool here today, cloudy and snow/rain mix. Suppose to be spring but feels more like winter.

canmitch1971 05-09-2009 06:48 PM

It is spring here in Ontario Canada not so far from Ottawa.

Pats8e8 05-09-2009 11:21 PM

USA! Spring here in California desert, 98+ today with wind. Lived in CA most of my life, but my heart is in Ohio.

tlrnhi 05-10-2009 12:36 AM

Well, Legally speaking, I'm in the US, according to what they say...Guam is a Territory, but they run their government the way they want to run it, ONLY picking and choosing which Federal Laws they want to abide by...but that's my opinion.......
And.....it's ALWAYS HOT HERE!!!!

For those of you with gardens? Well.....I can't wait until I can say I have one of my own!

k3n 05-10-2009 12:47 AM

This is SO interesting, thanks for starting this thread QWDs! Could I ask all you American ladies to say whether you are N, S E, W or centre? My geography of the USA is badly lacking! Thanks so much! Also, as a gardener, it's great to here what's blooming in your plots! It's so funny that in OZ your zucchini are nearly over and here in France I've just sown mine!
