I agree with QuiltnCowgirl. It is my hobby, my fabric, period. None of their business, THE END!
Definitely don't listen to them! My daughter makes fun of me sometimes and I heard her tell her friend one day "my mom buys fabric and she doesn't even know what to do with it". She doesn't like it that it overflows to my dining room, lol, I just tell her she is not making the house payment!!!
My kids looked at the fabric as money I could spend on them. I worked hard and they had what they needed, they had to earn what they wanted.
My sons don't care and my daughter just keeps helping herself!! I love my stash :D
my suggestion is to put some humor in there....just make some sort of joke about it...don't let them upset you about it. keep all your fabric, keep doing what pleases you and laugh it off when they mention it.

When my DH saw me in the closet trying to find another inch of space he emptied his closet in he computer room and put up more shelves for me. What a sweetie he is! My DD's stash is much larger than mine  and she's always more than willing to share. |
Tell them to mind their own business! You are the parent.
I believe I'd find something to complain about that they have or do. Everytime they started in about my stash I'd immediately start in on them.
Mine better not say anything about my fabric..they'd never get another quilt...besides I don't tell them how to spend their money..they show me the same respect
My kids would never complain about anything I do or have, they know better. If my husband complains about something, I remind him how much he spends on ciggaretts each year, I could have had "my car" by now LOL
