your kids complain about all of the fabric I have. I honestly don't have that much fabric. I mean compared to some of the stashes I have seen here. It makes me want to just get rid of all of it and say ---okay it's all gone, now you don't have to keep preaching about it. I just don't know why my kids can't let me happy in my own little world. Just a thought!

My kiddos love to oooh & aaaah over my fabrics. There is a section that they are allowed to get into!!!

My dd wouldn't dare complain about how much fabric I have, as then I could complain about all the clothes she has. My dh will never say anything because he has a collection of about 5,000 LPs. :D I was *very* smart about never discouraging him from buying another LP..... :-D :-D :-D

None of my kids or my husband complain about my fabric- maybe they have something you can "nag" them about???? hee hee

Don't let it bother you. Let them know it makes you happy. And for heavens sake, don't get rid of any because they are whining...

I don't have an answer, my DH complains about my quilting, fabrics, threads and everything related to quilting but I discovered that is just because he is jealous. He would like me to be sitting by his side watching his TV programs which I don't do often.
I learned to live with it and learned to ignore his comments. When I am quilting I am enjoying all of it. Do the same and think that maybe they just want more of you and your time with them and less with your fabrics and toys.

I tell them....when you are paying for it or having to store it, then you should worry about it. Let me enjoy the things I enjoy.

My youngest daughter loved soccer. I enjoyed watching her, but I went because I enjoyed her. She used to complain about my stuff either crafting or genealogy until I day I put it to her like this.

Honey, I do your things because I want to be with you but this is a relationship and sometimes you just need to humor me and try to enjoy my stuff just a little bit. Do you reallly think I love drive all over the state and sit in the hot sun, rain or other weather...I just enjoy you...

DO NOT GET RID OF IT BECAUSE OF THEM! Our DS & his wife kept talking about 'our junk' all the things I had on the walls. I had collected pigs since 1986 & had over 200 of them. Yeah some of them had fur (dust!) but so what. Well they kept after like yours are doing & I got so so mad one day I ripped everything that could collect dust & packed it away. After it's been packed away I keep thinking, it's none of their business. I could be a hoarder & it's none of their business. We have nice furniture, a nice home but I really think the only thing they are interest in is green in color! $o}

What age are the kids? Old enough to know better????

cinnya 05-26-2011 04:54 PM

assuming your kids are at least teenagers you tell them politely that it is NONE of their business how much fabric you have.
Do not let them spoil your passion for quilting .
They don't have a clue what this fabric means to us and how much we enjoy our hobby.
